Article this morning seems to point to Sampson and the Houston AD already searching for a replacement. Which I am fine with.

Sampson Resume
614-323
15 NCAA Tourneys
1 Final Four
2 Elite Eights
3 Sweet Sixteens
6 Second Round Appearances
7 first round exits
5 Conference Championships
3 Conference Tourney Titles
4 time Conference Coach of the Year
21 seasons of 20 of more wins
7 seasons of 25 or more wins
2 seasons of 30 or more wins

I think Beard is the whale, but it seems all roads lead to Sampson.. And that's absolutely fine with me. It's a home run

If Texas makes a move on Chris Beard where does Shaka Smart land?

There will probably be people pushing this name in the background. I don't know about him. I hear he's dirty.

Not too concerned with his record at Texas. Texas is a hard place to coach. It's too political. He was outstanding at Virginia.

Eh, would not like that hire. Not a bad coach but has been to the dance 5 out of 17 years. We could do better.

Don't trust the arkansas media
Theres always a smokescreen
Last time we did this, it was reported that tubby smith accepted the job.

If I were the AD my list would be Beard, Beard and Beard. That guy coaches one of the best defenses. Imagine what he could do with the kind of homegrown talent we get here at Arkansas.

He could easily be the next Sutton. Sure I'm fine with Sampson. But I'd throw the bank at Beard.

Historically, yes that's always the case. I'm hoping HY changes how our searches typically operate.

beard definitely wants

If he can wait at Tech for Texas to open up, he can do it here too. Might get lucky and have him realize we're a better job.

I'm all for making him say no but its hard to say no to your alma mater when it comes calling

my concern is that shaka is not long for texas. he probably would've been fired after this year, if he didn't have a $13 million buyout. he could be gone after next year if they don't make the tourney and win a few.

i guess it's worth the shot of having him here for a year or two?

supposedly buzz wants the texas job, also, and is willing to wait for it if he's happy.

Honestly I hope Tech, VT, and Houston all lose on Thurs/Fri.

Last thing we need is to have 1 guy in mind that's still playing and delaying the process. Only to have him win a NC or back out and make it very obvious we missed on our first choice.

That would be ideal for the hiring process but they also have to play again Saturday or Sunday so I think as long as we are not seeing all those coaches make the final four, it won't be a big deal.

I have my favorites for the job but mainly I want to see relentless defense and a clear offensive plan of attack with an emphasis on fundamentals. Beyond that I don't really care who it is.

We are in trouble.

I'm not ready for D1 yet. Not enough experience.

You read my mind. The thing that concerns me most anout Sampson is his age. Beard is 17 years younger. Either would be a great hire, though.

Damn, I just hope Sampson takes the job. If he doesn't, then maybe neighbors or Joe Foley
