I thought DeBoers comments hinted at Mack being the guy too, but people who actually have seen things say Keelon is the guy.
I think keelon throws for 37.

if mack starts and plays majority of the season then i guess low to mid 20's. he strikes me as a guy that likes to push the ball down the field.
if kr starts and plays majority of the season then i'll guess mid to high teens. i would expect his passing td's to be lower because he'll be running for td's.
this is all contingent on a functional offensive line

I kinda think Mack would have more rushing TDs if he is the starter. Neither guy is trying to be much of a runner. But they both can take off. I expect it to be similar to Ty last year. But Austin Mack is a real big dude and if im betting on rushing TDs in would take him. Long strides and long limbs. I could see him being good at the QB sneak game too.

4 because Russell starts

Agreed. Russell is more of a scrambler who has enough speed to hurt a defense. He's not a guy who is getting his number called inside the 10 a lot like Hurts or Milroe though, and that's generally how athletic QBs score a bunch of rushing TDs rather than just gaining yards. Daniels, who is a popular comp for Russell, only rushed for 10 TDs in his Heisman season despite gaining over 1100 yards. Milroe on the other hand scored 12 that season with less than half the yardage. If Mack is a sneaky good athlete like DeBoer has suggested then he could get that treatment a bit with how big he is though.

20. All in the second half mop up duty. Keelon throws for 40

That writer seems like an idiot. While I agree that Russell should start, his article is without any supporting evidence beyond his opinion. And somehow his premise is that "Nick Saban's opinion is wrong and mine is right."

so y'all are saying that KR is closer to Bryce Young in that he's a pocket passer that scrambles good and only runs when necessary, correct? ok, i can live with that, especially if hes as accurate of a passer as BY9 was.
com'on o-line, be good this year

He's a better runner than Bryce. If he's the starter he will score some rushing TDs that aren't just from QB sneaks or bootlegs from inside the 2. I'm just saying that his build is not that of a guy who is going to score a ton of rushing TDs relative to the yards he gains from scrambling. Compare Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. Same draft class, but even though Lamar has almost 2000 more rushing yards Allen has over twice as many rushing TDs. Because he's fricking huge and Lamar is not.

Think Deboers loyalty to guys is a strong determining factor on who will start. At this point I think Mack starts which means no matter what he'll be the starter the whole season.
Hope whomever starts does well.

If he was that loyal he’d have started Mack over Milroe and Simpson since Mack came with him from Washington. Or kept Kap as Oline coach.
He’s loyal to a point but he’s going to pick the best person for the job.

DeBoer has outright fired at least one coach and probably essentially fired OLC without busting him out during bowl practice like the 2024 safeties coach.
He doesn’t seem emotional tied to loyalty. He’s pushed out guys who weren’t performing.

Such as Kapilovic. That dude probably should have been fired after year one.

If he starts an entire season, he'll throw between 20-25 td's. But I have a gut feeling Russell is going to get some series both planned and unplanned.
