Why is everyone trying to trick themselves into thinking Milroe isn’t the guy?

If Ty was the guy, then we would have known by now.

When it was Tua we heard the mumblings as a freshman. When it was Bryce we heard the mumblings as a freshman. When it was Hurts even we heard some good things as a freshman.

Ty hasn’t stood out and that’s why Milroe is the guy.

Ty wouldn’t set us back at all, but he’s not wowing anyone. Milroe is the guy and the players want him to be.

We also had an offensive coordinator that had a difficult time making it easy for the QB that’s going #1 overall next week

I agree with you. Let’s get real here. You’re tricking yourself if you honestly believe Ty Simpson is gonna beat out Jalen. I have heard the comparisons to Matt Coral, he was recruited by Reese, yada yada. But when Ty Simpson went in for his first snap of the year last year, under center and he literally walked out from behind center to help line up a receiver inside the 5 yard line, I was like what is this guy doing?! We need a big guy that can take hits, be a threat to run some, and have zip on the ball. You are kidding yourself if you think other wise. And at this juncture with rumors about TVD and whatever, Reese obviously isn’t going to play the favorites card if you thought he would with Simpson. You should be glad that’s the case.

Is this a troll? I cant tell. I would hope you aren't slighting a true freshman QB for making sure his guys are lined up correctly. It is literally his job.

Tuas and Youngs don't show up every day, plus I believe that Coach Saban's getting ready to take take some of the pressure off the QB (a.k.a "passing game"), and get back to type of football that got us to where we are today. I honestly believe that he's looked "next door" at his protege and had a rude awakening of sorts. Long story made short:
We're gonna be more physical on BOTH sides of the ball, with a running game that tries to pound the opponent into submission (again, a.k.a. "make his arse quit!").
I may be wrong...but I don't think so.

This is what people will soon finally understand.

Just how much those two idiots coordinators wasted the last two seasons.

Give me a break. True freshman 3rd string qb doesn’t have a job. And if he did his first responsibility would be ball security, which went by the wayside during his debut. It’s like he went, “hey everyone! I’m the new guy. Look how much order I can bring to this team!! I am gonna line everyone up!!” Look at yourself standing up for this 20 year old. Can you not read players body language in the practice videos?

I mean Jalen is 20 years old and you're standing up for him. Secondly, it is hard to worry about ball security if everyone isn't lined up correctly. I'm uncertain of how his ball security "went by the wayside" he didn't turn the ball over at all. I hope Jalen kills it if he is the guy, I am an Alabama fan before a Jalen or a Ty fan.

Probably because they are actively trying to get the qb from Miami

The most reasonable course of action is to let the coaches do their job and support whoever is out there. That's my plan at least. I think we have two very good options.

As far as people knocking Milroe for the A&M game last year, players can improve, and I think it's silly to think that's not possible with Jalen. Just like it's silly to think he will now be all world. Just let it play out and support the kid.

He probably is the guy and that scares me. The QB position will be the only reason Bama doesn't win it all this year, if they don't. I would love nothing more than for Milroe to flip a switch and figure it all out but I don't see that happening. Really hope I am wrong. I can't wait for Julian Sayin because he puts Bama back to the Tua, Mac, Bryce category.

Counterpoint, we had a highly experienced OC who coached a player to a heisman and the #1 overall pick.

Not to say O'Brien was my favorite OC or anything, but what we saw from Milroe against A&M had little to do with playcalling.

I am honestly confused by this, are you saying Ty was wrong for lining up his receiver, correctly? So you would rather have him in the wrong formation, man! I guess I don’t want my qb knowing the plays then

Milroe very well be the guy, but we watched him play last year and he had serious major/fatal flaws. He was terrible with ball security, inaccurate and struggled to read defenses. Basically all three things you can't have a QB do, he did. And no amount of freakish athleticism can make up for those flaws if he doesn't clean them up.

That said, I think he can clean up the ball security issues and will improve reading defenses but inaccuracy issues tend to linger with QB's. I'm a skeptic until I see him put it all together. And if the coaching staff really is testing the portal waters, that would indicate that they agree with this assessment.

We won 2 NCs between the 3 of those players.

The other 4 were Mcelroy, McCarron, and Coker.
