Are we that entitled as a fanbase? I don't bust my tail at practice everyday. I don't listen to the armchair QB's tell me how to dress on the sideline. I follow the team from the stands and/or the TV. What do I matter as a fan in the grand scheme of things? It's not my ACL that is at risk of being torn. It's not my Brain that is at risk of being concussed. I'm proud of the boys win or lose. It's easy to be a fan when you win. Times like these are when the real fans stick with the team....when the bandwagon breaks. You would never know that we just knocked off mighty Georgia the week before. Now "all is lost". Some need a reality check. I'll hang up and listen..........

Well, with NIL and team collectives, fans matter more now than they did in the past.

However, I'm with you, I'm proud of the guys win or lose and I'm not going to stop donating just because our head coach wears a t-shirt (GASP!) on the sidelines

Stop going to the games. Stop buying the products. Stop donating for NIL. Then all sports teams will find out they are all fan driven. Not sure if that’s entitlement but now more than ever it’s true for college sports. But I get what you’re saying.

I don't think entitlement has anything to do with trust.

Us trusting whether or not the team plays well has nothing to do with entitlement. You could say we're entitled because of the dynasty that CS built.

Do I have faith in the coaches or players, especially defensively, to stop an opponent? Or to win a low score game? No I don't but that faith/lack of is based on their play not my entitlement.

Because they're professional athletes.

So one half against Georgia where they went 5/5 on fourth down? That means the defense did pretty good on third down, right? And a game against an offensive scheme that they won't see again all year and by all accounts is difficult to prepare for. I think I'll wait and make my determination after the next 4 games before I try and trash the 1st year D coordinator.

People don't get how impressive this is. Nobody is beating uga. Nobody. If not for BAMA, uga would be in a Bud Wilkinson type run.
The fact that uga is 1 for their last 10 vs BAMA outweighs any loss. If you are the ONLY team beating the best team in the sport, and you're not just beating them, you're their got damn daddy, you have a chance to win championships.
If BAMA's offense holds serve,
USC will have to pitch a perfect game to win.
Tenner will have to pitch a perfect game to win.
Mizzou and LSU same thing.
Barn will need a perfect game and divine intervention.

I like my odds if the team I'm playing has to be perfect in order to beat me.

Nobody has come close to even slowing down BAMA's offense. Not for 60 minutes. And if uga can't do it, I doubt anyone else on their schedule can do it either.

Okay... so why do politicians have to regain the trust of their constituents when they frick up? Why do directors have to regain the trust of their fans after making a bad film? Why does a surgeon have to regain the trust of his community after botching a surgery? After all, that's their business and not ours, right? We aren't the ones calling the shots in those professions...

If they don't want fans to have a voice, then don't rape us on ticket prices, merchandise, concessions or ask for NIL donations since we're not allowed to have an opinion.

This is a silly question. Are we the ones playing the game on the field? No, obviously not. But we are the ones funding the program and demanding excellence. Alabama didn't become Alabama in a vacuum.

Georgia has allowed 6 touchdowns this season. 5 to us, and 1 to Auburn.

Every single time there's a loss we get one of these threads. I haven't been doom posting like many people in this instance. But what would be the point of a forum if you had the mindset in OP, treating these professional athletes like Little League kids where the only discussion that can be had is how proud you are of them for taking the field and how cute they look in their uniforms?

Because of fans, these guys make more money than you, get more attractive women than you, live better than you, have an easier job than you. Even at its best, it's irrational for a grown man to happily put himself at a power imbalance to college kids in this way. When you take it further and say you're also not allowed to criticize them in any way, it goes from irrational to self-humiliation.

Yup. Every starter and 2nd team player is paid for his services. Some more than others, but they're all paid. And because they're paid, they now owe me a better product.

Or to say it in a slightly different way, as I commented to a friend the other day, when they're getting pro money the whole "he's a good kid and he's just out there doing his best and trying to represent the university" thing just isn't going to fly.

When they started asking for money from fans to pay the players and the fans don't even get tickets to the games for it, the whole "fans too entitled" shtick from scolds and journalists sort of lost its luster with me.

This is a bit melodramatic of you but what people are talking about is they get emotionally invested in the program and it’s not just Alabama it’s all fans of sports soccer, baseball, football it’s what people do. Life can be crappy and some people vest way more emotionally in sports than I think is healthy but that’s just me and my personality.
