Based on this past season, fans can only hope this is the case and mindset with this coaching staff. Because I am not sure the right decisions were made in the best interest of the team in 2024.

Are you the one who posted it would be funny if Bama has a losing season with Ty? And now this?
Is that you Louis Farakahn?

When's the last time a non-white QB played the full season and won a national title for us?

What problem?
Agreed. Nobody had a problem with Williams playing as a freshman. He wasn't set to start until he showed out in spring ball.
I know. I know.
Qb iS wAy HaRdEr ThAn ReCeiVeR!!
DeBoer and Grubb will know if Russell is ready to go or not. If they say he is, then I'm going to trust them. After all, if DeBoer is willing to wager his 8 figure salary on Russell playing as a freshman, then he must be pretty good. If DeBoer is willing to risk him transferring because he doesn't want to sit, I'm good with that too.
Only problem I see is that if Russell is the starter, the qb room will be an Army of One.

I noticed this as well. It sounds like he fully expects to start. I have a sinking feeling if he doesn't he's of that new group of portal kids who'll just bolt. It should be an interesting scenario to watch play out for sure.

Every qb that wins thinks they are and generational player and should start right away.
Very few are.
The more I read about and study DeBoer's history, I think he's the best offensive mind in the game right now. If a qb isn't smart enough to see that, and trust when that coach is telling him he needs to wait, well... then, tschüss, homie. There'll be another "generational" qb in the next class.

If we start a true freshman QB next year, it's going to be another disappointing season and the same people clamoring for it to happen will be calling for Deboer's job.
It might happen, but it will be a bad sign if it does. Y'all better hope Ty (or Mack) WINS the job and Russel realizes he has some learning to do.

Yeah. I want my qb confident enough to think he can start right away, but smart enough to know there's a lot of shite he doesn't know.

So he's going to practice through A-Day, find out he's not starting and transfer where to get a starting job?

This is an excellent point.
Where's he going to go in late April and start after being on campus somewhere else for all of winter and spring?

Nussmeier is returning.
He'd be in the same situation there, and practically anywhere else, as here.
That's my point.

Can any of us really predict what these kids are going to do anymore? They've grown up in a world where they always have options when things don't go their way. There's always been an exit door for them to take. I would hope he wouldn't leave after A-Day if he's not the starter, but would it shock me? Nope...

When is the last time Bama was this wide open at QB? The backup, now presumed starter (?) has been on campus for years and has yet to throw a TD pass. I guess 2016? Looked like it was going to be Blake Barnett and he was pulled after a couple of drives into the first game.

You want a Bama QB who has thrown a TD in a game?
Great rapport with the soon to be Bama legend Uncle Rico.

The QB “battle” always has to go to fall camp
