If he is, I will be 1,000% for him. Period.
But you are assuming that the facts that were in evidence during the 2024 season will also be in evidence in the spring and late summer of 2025.
I prefer to see how the situation plays out when the competitors are actually on the field competing. The past is over. The present is what’s relevant.
And I will repeat something I’ve said previously that has been downvoted to hell but I don’t care, the person looking back at me in the mirror when I shave in the morning is the only person whose opinion I worry about. There are people who, for whatever reason (and I’ve cited some), are greatly invested in Ty being the No. 1 QB and I think there will be hell to pay if the coaches’ assessment is that he isn’t The Man.

I’m not doubting Ty at all, but Russell has the juice.

I think it’s pretty much common knowledge now that the best quarterback this past season was indeed the back up.
Is it? The times I saw Simpson play I didn't see him going out and lighting the world on fire. He was serviceable, but it isn't like the offense clicked into another gear when he was on the field. What did you see that led you to believe that he was inarguably the best QB on the roster?

Ty was lighting it up behind the scenes say many of the board, he could definitely be the next starter, but in my heart I know he is talking about Mack. That dude is a leader and has the deepest of deep balls, no Diddy.

Austin Mack looking really good. Good enough to start. Keelon gonna be situational... Needs to learn playbook.
Wr corp doesn't seem to take to Ty in practice, from what I've heard....

This is against HS kids who he is obviously much more talented than in many instances. Being able to do that against sec caliber defenses and DCs is a totally different game. Let’s give this kid a chance to grow and as a fan base not pressure him to be the next Tua. If he’s the best option I hope he gets the job but the guys ahead of him have seen the offense for three or more years now. Let’s just let it play out.

Anyone posting on this forum who tries to say with metaphysical certainty what Ty Simpson’s capabilities are and exactly what he’d have done last year or will do next year as the starting quarterback is full of caca.
The same thing goes for Mack and Russell.
Let’s wait and see the thing play out and again, the best QB should start. Period. Regardless of who it is.

It is a giant step up from HS to college football. QB is by far the most difficult. His time will come.

Not a big fan of starting a skinny freshman in the SEC. I know they all want to play but it's not always a good thing. SEC lineman don't have an off button when it comes to hitting quarterbacks. Taking a beating at that age can mess with their heads.
While there are a lot of transfer QB's the transfers that are successful tend to be early on. So they arrive with another young highly rated player. End up losing the competition and they transfer to find more opportunity. The ones that do this once and land at the right place do well. the ones that end up in the wrong place or who continually keep losing the job generally have a future in coaching.
From our standpoint we've spent years grooming the three guys we have. Bringing in a ringer would destroy most of that. So you get a QB for 2025 but what will be there in 2026? It's naive to assume there will always be a game breaker available every year.
Anyway we want to win championships. Great QB's win championships but not necessarily the most talented QB's. Jake Coker wasn't an NFL caliber guy but he got us the ring. Same could be said of GMac.
What we NEED are better offensive lineman. Give me 5 NFL level offensive lineman and I could line up the school for the blind behind them and win a natty.

I agree with you. It’s why I’m excited about Michael Carrol. He’s an absolute beast. Looks ready made to play and he’s already enrolled.

Wait a minute.... I thought y'all said all our offensive problems would be gone when milroe left. [/Sarcasm]
Yes, I agree... We need some dawgs on the O line.

Jake Coker was and is a winner.

Simpson played vs Kentucky last year.

Russell played with superior talent around him versus lesser talented teams.
He has a lot of tools to work with but I'm a gone head and tell you my opinion...
I don't think he's as advanced as Bryce Young was coming out of highschool.

Let’s say the staff goes with Russell in hopes to make sure he sticks around. Kid has a good year with some flashes and we go 8-4. After the season an Oil Barron comes by with 5 million bucks and he’s gone. Of course Mac and Ty transferred already as well. CFB ain’t what it used to be.

My thought as well. I’m sure Milroe looked dominant in HS too.

As a junior, he threw for 2,689 yards and 29 touchdowns adding an additional eight touchdowns rushing and 378 yards. In 2020 as a senior, he passed for 1,136 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Keelon had 4100 yards and 55 TDs….
Keelon is way better than Milroe was in highschool.

For comparison Ty: 2,827 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, 862 rushing yards, and 11 rushing touchdowns
Ty was by far better than Milroe in highschool too.
Keelon is easily the best pure QB out of all of them, but Ty should be an excellent QB for us.
