Don’t deal w/ CBB transfer stuff too much, but have heard from coaches who can’t help but laugh (or cry) at what is transpiring. There will be ~1,000 players in the portal by Saturday morning—a record. Might well have more than 1,200 players there by the night of the title game.

CBB is going to have insane roster turnover next year. This is a combo of exhaustion from a COVID season and the bonus year + immediate transfer eligibility. Good teams are seeing, or will see, major defections. Mid-majors getting strafed. April will be chaos. So there’s that!

Look at the top of the page in the Verbal Commits link above, and you will see "Transfers." They are listed by minutes, hours, days etc in the portal, so no doubt it is a thorough list. Old School and New School listed there too.

Argue for or against whether kids should have free transfer, but I don't want to hear any complaining about how this hurts mid-majors (same in football).
People said all along this would be the end result. My guess is the same journalists who argued how awful the NCAA is and how kids should have all the power will very quickly lament how much this hurts smaller schools.

I mean, it definitely does hurt mid-majors more than P-6 teams. Mid-majors rely almost exclusively on roster continuity. The really good ones get old and stay old. The sports media world is showing off some serious hypocrisy by bitching endlessly about athlete empowerment and then freaking out when that empowerment doesn't manifest itself the way they wanted it to, but the NCAA should absolutely put a lot of weight on how a permanent one time waiver would affect small school programs. They're going to become a de facto farm system if the NCAA grants that.

I'm assuming this is a one time deal for just this offseason with the extra year the NCAA is allowing for Covid? At least I hope so.
I was selfishly hoping that Auburn's bounce back next year would be dulled with Cooper likely going pro and maybe even Flanigan as well. There's no way Auburn misses out on a very good point guard with such a huge transfer portal. They unfortunately appear to be the leader for Scoota the stud 2022 5 star point guard out of Georgia

He will choose between Illinois, USC, Vanderbilt, Oregon, Alabama, LSU, and Auburn.

How the frick did Auburn and L$U get on his list? Auburn just got their hand slapped for playing dirty and Wade is dead man walking.

Guys on the FB basketball group say we lead over Illinois. Just have to make room (Rojas transferring).
Posted on 3/29/21 at 8:31 am to Gary Busey
I'd expect Rojas to enter the portal by the end of the week, if not by the end of the day tomorrow. Gary is getting all of his minutes now and that's not going to change next year. He's not cut out for major conference basketball because he just doesn't want to be a junkyard dog type player like Gary is. He wants to drive and shoot. He can probably do it in a small conference, but he can't in the SEC.

I doubt they really know any inside information. It just makes sense. We led for most of his recruitment. He repeatedly said he wanted to play fast. We proved that tempo and had an incredible year. He suffered through the slow grind of Texas Tech's offense. We just had a former 5-star guard rehab his reputation with us this year.
It makes so much sense that I'd be a little suspicious if he didn't choose us (if it truly was his decision).

2021 Top 80 prospect Jonas Aidoo decommits from Marquette
quote:
Jonas Aidoo, the No. 80 overall prospect in the 247Sports Top150, has decommitted from Marquette, he announced on Monday night.
"After a long talk with my family and coaches, I have decided to decommit from Marquette University and reopen my recruitment," Aidoo announced on Monday night. "I’d like to thank Coach Wojo and Coach Gainey for the opportunity."
The 6-foot-11, 215-pound big man out of Charlotte (N.C.) Liberty Heights Athletic Institute committed to Steve Wojchiechowski on December 10, 2020 but since Wojchiechowski's departure, Aidoo has decided to open things back up.
Aidoo previously committed to the Golden Eagles initially over programs including Georgia, Houston, Kansas, Miami, NC State, Providence, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wake Forest.
Aidoo will quickly become one of more sought after prospects on the market and one of the top available big men. He has legit size for the position, long arms, spreads the floor, has a face-up game and can score in the post.
Aidoo is the No. 60 overall prospect in the 2021 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Alabama has reached out to both East Carolina transfer Jayden Gardner and Furman transfer Noah Gurley this afternoon, a source told
@Stockrisers
.
Both are two of the best-available transfers in the flooded transfer portal. They’ve got plenty of suitors, respectively.
Either one would be a huge get, both are 6'7, 6'8 guard/forward types and are both great players.

A lot of great transfers out there & recruits on board. I’d also say Ambrose-Hylton could leave if we need him too. Hylton was eligible to play this season, but played less than Rojas. Let that sink in

Ambrose-Hylton was a raw true freshman, let that sink in.
Is he the next one to be on your "retard" list?

Hylton can also play above the rim. (See the slam dunk in the Arky 7 footers face. We dont have another big that can do that). I dont know why we would recruit a big that cant play above the rim, unless they are a deadly outside shooter.
I guess its a good thing we didnt use Saban Bears logic when Mac Jones was the scout team QB for 2 years.

I think it'll be Burnett or Miles. Burnett needs a lot of work on offense and Miles' physical talent greatly outpaces his basketball IQ at this point. Classic examples of players dipshit assclowns like saban n bear will rake over the coals with personal insults.
