JD Davison - No. 9 in the 2021 247Sports Composite, Letohatchee (Ala.) Calhoun School, Point Guard, 6-3, Alabama recruit

Scouting report Jerry Meyer:

Has a good physical build for a point guard. Extremely athletic. Explosive leaper who specializes in getting to the rim and finishing. Also has great body control and is a creative and adept finisher. Has a reliable jump shot to keep the defense honest. Sees the court well. Finds the diagonal pass. Can make the high degree of difficulty pass. Has the tools to be a high level perimeter defender and rebounder.

From reading the tea leaves it seems like we still have a shot at Bediako, just that we aren't the lock that most thought we were.

Nate Oats could sell ice to an eskimo so I wouldnt count us out just yet.

Fingers crossed.

He's definitely shown flashes of greatness. But he hasn't been consistent though yet to be drafted, imo. I'm sure the scouts would also like to see him add some weight.

If we go the transfer route over Bediako, I would love to get someone like Dylan Disu from Vandy.

6’9, 220, averages 14 points, 8 rebounds, 38.5% from 3, 75% FT%, moves like a wing.

He killed us last year as a freshman w/ 21 points in the 1st game we won, and 14 points in the 2nd game we lost.

And he won’t see an NCAA tournament at Vandy. He seems like the kind of candidate that would be looking to jump from a lower half team to a tourney team a la Olivier Sarr.

I like Dysu a lot. Alexis Yetna from USF would be a great fit too. Two years ago he averaged 10 rebs, 12 points a game and shot 37% three. He redshirted last year because of a pre season knee injury but is starting to play like his old self these last few games, this year he is averaging 8 rebs, 10 points a game and shooting 35% from 3, he is elite on defense too. If we could get someone like either one of them we would be set for next year.

Has there been any talk about Disu leaving Vandy?
Would love to get him but not sure where his leaving is coming from.

Pure speculation for now just on who might be a good fit and could potentially look for a better opportunity.

Dang! Yetna looks great. Announcer called one three "all the way from Paris." Wonder if Tchikou knows him? He may be happy at South Fla, but SEC tv would get him much more attention.

We're just speculating on good bigs that would fit our system who may want to transfer to a better conference and/or team.
They may not, who knows. I think there will be more people than ever in the portal this year since you don't have to sit out a year. I like the strategy of having a spot open in case another great fit like Bruner comes along. I wouldn't be mad if we end up with Bediako either. I am sure that the staff will find someone who is a great fit.

Yea, I was the original poster on Disu. There is no talk of Disu leaving. I was just speculating about good 5s on bad teams who fit our system.

This in response to the rumors about us cooling on Bediako because he would be another project big on the offensive end.

We already have 3 project bigs in KAH/Tchikou/Langston, so we may need that scholarship for a big that can produce offense on Day 1, even if his ceiling is lower than Bediako.

Basically scouting for another Bruner.

I could see Vandy firing Stackhouse after this season. It's pretty obviously not going to work out, and he's way too much of an a-hole to keep around unless he's winning big.

Plus Stackhouse isn't the one that recruited Disu anyway. the previous staff did. Wouldn't surprise me if he transfers, losing every game can't be fun. We would have some strong competition for him though, statistically he is one of the top 15 power forwards this season.
