After talking to a few people, I do not expect Alabama to land Bediako. It seems as if this is a mutual decision based on schematic fit. Bediako does not think his skill set would be best showcased in a fast, run and gun type of offense. My best guess would be he will go to Texas when Greg Brown goes pro. Bediako has a high ceiling, but is very raw offensively and he knows he needs a system that fits him to develop. This isn’t a huge deal, but the front court will be need to be addressed in the offseason through the transfer portal. Alex Tchikou will be coming off an injury, Rojas is a likely transfer candidate, Bruner and Reese will be gone, and Langston Wilson will be coming in. A big man will be top priority in the portal.

He just hasn’t developed his offensive game enough to where he would end up meshing well. I believe Bediako initiated the concern. He wants to feature more of a traditional big man role than a stretch big.

His OP about Bediako. Mutual decision and Bediako initiated Concern.

I was told we stopped recruiting Wesley Cardet as well, so it may be the transfer portal. Cardet has struggled mightily this season with turnovers and shooting.

About Cardet

@Harper41 , what's the latest on Nimari Burnett now that Cardet and Bediako seem to be trending elsewhere

Somebody asked him about Nimari and this was his response

Thanks for posting.

Very surprising about Cardet. Everything I see about Cardet looks and sounds great, but I guess turnovers and shooting percentages are easy enough to cover up in articles or short videos.

Sounds like it's transfer portal or bust unless we find another guy to reclassify. Transfer portal isn't a bad place to be for a team that should be coming of an excellent season like Alabama should be.

Found this. I assume it's accurate.

Cardet is averaging 13/5/3.

28% 3P% (10/36)

The staff backing off of two of their longstanding top targets at the 11th hour because those players turned out to not be the players they were expecting is pretty concerning to me.

Yeah, it feels like there almost has to be something going on for this to happen with two different recruits this late in the game. And the news came out on back to back days.

Seems strange to back off two really talented guys that we recruited hard and allegedly had the lead on.

I'll trust the staff I guess. CNO went out and unexpectedly got Tchikou late, so I have zero doubts he can snag a solid player.

What are the rules on contacting players on other teams regarding the transfer portal?

Maybe our staff has identified some possible transfers that are interested...

Seems odd but I trust Oats. I do like the idea of having a spot or two open for good transfers.

What's the feeling on Terrion and McKinstry playing?
Supposedly, Oats was instrumental in helping Saban land them. I don't know much about them as basketball players.

They won’t. Except in Garbage time. But their athleticism will push our scholarship guys in practice

I think Terrion is a SEC caliber player though and if 100% committed to basketball he would definitely play IMO....but he isn’t gonna have time because of Football. Kool -Aid is not a SEC caliber guy IMO

Alabama signee Jusaun Holt finished with 29 points this evening. The future @AlabamaMBB prospect only grabbed five rebounds but has grabbed over 500+ in his high school career.

Will be a major add for Nate Oats.

We have some really gritty guys right now and I think Holt fits that perfectly. We will have a lot of length and toughness. We will be really tough as long as we keep Oats here.

I agree with the folks saying its odd that we seemed to lead for 2 high caliber prospects like Bediako and Cardet and now interest on our side is waning in both.

I too think transfers are the best bet given how quickly we have taken off.

We should draw a lot of interest from middle of the pack P5 starters who want to move to a Top 25 team, much like Bruner and Olivier Sarr (even though that went poorly).

Maybe I’ve got my Crimson colored glasses on but I’ll take a different point of view on the Bediako-Cardet cooling. What if our performance on the court this year is starting to open doors and turn heads that wouldn’t give us the time of day before the season? Maybe Nate has decided he doesn’t need to burn those scholarships on projects because we’ve got more JD caliber players interested. Maybe not in the 21 class but maybe the 22 class. I’m spinning it that way; not necessary to find the diamonds in the rough right now because the polished diamonds are paying attention.

I suppose that's possible - time will tell.
