I still dont even really understand what a scope is...

quote:

Knee arthroscopy is a surgical technique that can diagnose and treat problems in the knee joint. During the procedure, your surgeon will make a very small incision and insert a tiny camera — called an arthroscope — into your knee. This allows them to view the inside of the joint on a screen. The surgeon can then investigate a problem with the knee and, if necessary, correct the issue using small instruments within the arthroscope.

I had it done.....they go in and clip of some of the torn ligament stuff and maybe shave the bone in the joint down a hair.....it's no big deal but I couldn't walk for about 5 days and needed crutches.....slowly able to walk around and was quickly walking around like nothing ever happened after about day 7 or so.....but I wasn't playing QB at Bama so.......

Reas on JT Barrett last season. Had a scope morning after the Michigan game and played the next Saturday in the B1G Title game. Pretty rare though.

JT Barrett Returns from Scope

Great find George.

Arthroscopic surgery is the method where they use tiny cameras and lights. Saying someone had their knee or whatever else scoped says nothing about the severity of any injury, the type of work done, or the recovery time.

I know it’s missori but I still kind of find it crazy Tua can go 265/3TDs/0INTs on possibly a torn meniscus.

Sometimes they don't have to clip it, they just stitch it. The quicker recovery is the former.

The timeline for him being back to 100% seems about the same either way, and it's not bad, all things considered.

So I'm just gonna take that from it all and not worry about it further.

Like I said:

Saban says he's ok. I'm rolling with that until it's proven otherwise.

The more I read about the scopes and the double blind studies indicating those with fake surgeries fair as well as those who actually get the surgery, the more I think he should just rest up.

The newest thing is the stem cell stuff and I’ll bet Saban is having him shot up right away.

Of course the four billion dollar a year meniscus tear surgery “industry” ain’t going nowhere.

I put this in the other thread but Drew is my friend and I wouldn’t say anything bad about him. I’ll leave it at that.

Boz, do you ever fear that Saban & Co. are going to start giving false info to select people to narrow down and find their insider leak? Or that they already have, and they use it as a means to spread stories (true or false) that they want spread?

I do know Saban actually called a guy who was using an insider and told him to back off. This particular guy was giving every little thing up though. I tell about 30% of what I hear.

How about you start giving the MEGATHREAD a little attention? We won't be ungrateful.

I only understand about 30% of what I hear. That means I'm operating at about 10% here.

A little confused here because a scope when they go in if they have to do something it is for a torn meniscus which is the cartilage not ligament. Ligament tear is a lot more serious then cleaning up the meniscus. I have had this done a few times and yes within a week walking around with very little issues.

You're confused because people are thinking of the tool/method (Arthroscopy) as if it were a one size fits all treatment and it isn't.

ACL injuries are fixed with arthroscopic surgery and take months of recovery but other procedures only need a week or two for the swelling to go down and all is well.
