I'm glad he hasn't but honestly shocked that Cornwall didn't transfer once it became clear he would not start this year. He can't go juco so either he is banking on winning the job at some point (maybe through injury) or going grad transfer.

Maybe dude's just not a quitter though.

I don't think any of you know how severe Cornwell's foot injury is.

I doubt the Rollbamaroll guys are that worried about it. The editor is an attorney, and the guy that writes for them that they allegedly stole info from is an attorney.

The Twitter spat was pretty funny.

Is it turned backwards or something?

If Hurts indeed gives us the best chance of winning, then I want him going into Oxford with two games under his belt. The Dallas game will be a relatively friendly environment, then there's WKY at home. I don't want his first action to be midway through the second quarter in Oxford with us already down two TDs.

Bryant-Denny was a "relatively friendly" environment when Bama loss to Ole Miss.

USC is not as strong overall as that Ole Miss team... but have most of their starters back on Offense and a very good Defensive secondary. A lot of fans seem to be underestimating the Trojans. I hope the players don't.

When Ryan Anderson was walking into the scrimmage Sat, he was pissed at the crap USC had been talking. " His exact words were "we are going to kick their arse" I think their minds are right lol.

I completely disagree with this and think they are a better team. The return of the DC they have will give us some problems. Especially in their base 5-2 they play under him.

Same here. I'm just tired of everyone assuming he's not good enough or he's got attitude problems or he's looking to get out. He may very well transfer eventually, I don't know. But he's well liked up there. It's not attitude problems.

Listened to Wimp today on the round table. I know he's just an old hoops coach, but he's been a coach at Bama and understands how coaches think.
He basically said he didn't see the coaches starting a kid over two others that have been there without them expecting those two to "88 out the gate" and transfer immediately. His bet was Bateman will start and Barnett would play. He went on to say he has no connections, that's just what he feels.

So just to be clear, you're saying that this USC team is better overall than last year's Ole Miss team?

Not looking to argue... looking for more insight on USC.

It is possible, but there's no reason to do so other than soothe a bruised ego. Per NCAA rules, both would have to sit an entire year unless they went down to D2 or JUCO. Assuming they're far enough along, it would make much better sense to finish the degree and go the grad transfer route.

I read your post wrong. I think USC is a better team this year then Ole Miss is this year.

If this is true then it means Hurts has been working his arse off and wants the job. It also means Barnett isn't who we thought he was. If everything we've read is true and Hurts has came in since day 1 trying to win the job then I'm all on the Hurts train.

I think it's safe to assume Barnett is out at this point, unless he had a huge lead going into that disastrous scrimmage.

Guys he would have to be heads and shoulders better than Bateman before he gets the start and that means making better decisions. Hurts will get on the field during the year but if you have to rely on a true freshman QB you're in trouble. He will be good for a few bad decisions in big games. He is not ready to face Tiger stadium or OM on the road. I'm sure he'll be great one day but I don't think he gets the nod.

You do know he has been practicing since last Dec right. He is not exactly you everyday true freshman. The guy must have at least 30 plus practices and 10 plus months studying the play book.

There is no way that Barnett, a redshirt freshman, would sit for 3 more years. Thems the breaks, though. It's a better problem to have than what appears to be the case at Auburn.

As for Barnett, it's entirely possible that he may be a gamer. There are some players, quarterbacks included, that play much better in a live game than practice. That aside, he's still young, as noted above, so it's unreasonable to think he won't improve or learn to correct mistakes.

edit: Jay Barker comes to mind. His first two years, though he didn't often fumble or throw many interceptions (or many passes for that matter), he also couldn't complete a 3 yard pass to a wide open receiver in the end zone vs Miami. UA won in spite of Barker those 2 years. He got better, though.

All that said, if half the reports are true, Hurts has passed Barnett, and I expect he will transfer.

But hey, he still has a hot surfer babe girlfriend!
