You all do understand that...the current uniforms are "new" to really old Bama fans right ?
:rotflmao:
The only things to change in the last 50 years are names added to the backs and numbers taken off the sleeves.

re: When Lane Kiffin gets next HC shot; will he be considered a "Saban Tree" coach?

Did Saban give Jim his start? That is what I think of when someone says coaching tree or mentor. To me Kiffin would think of Pete Carroll wouldn't he? He cut his teeth out there with Carroll and Norm Chow not with Nick Saban.
This is really irrelevant. We're using the word "tree", right? So the question is, what does the fruit look like? If he leaves Alabama to have what analysts would say is a successful tenure as a head coach...that would be different fruit from what we saw at UT or USC. Saban would be the difference.

By definition, no, Alabama cannot upset Ole Miss this year
That was my point, which was obviously waaaaaay over the head of at least one person. OP infers that Ole Miss is actually going to be favored by Vegas in this game.

For reasons that should be painfully obvious even to an Ole Miss fan, this would be impossible.
re: Touchdown Alabama: Jalen Hurts to be named starter
Posted by SaulWeingeroff on 8/25/16 at 10:16 am
If Hurts indeed gives us the best chance of winning, then I want him going into Oxford with two games under his belt. The Dallas game will be a relatively friendly environment, then there's WKY at home. I don't want his first action to be midway through the second quarter in Oxford with us already down two TDs.

He is an absolute idiot.
This is an absolute fact. How big of an idiot? While working out to get an NFL contract, tweeted that he was in the best shape of his life...while at the same time trying to claim disability from a little mishap he had. Now that's a whole 'nother level of stupid.

Wonder what was the secret to his success?
Hmmmm...so his Bryant connection was the secret to his ability to grow CLC into a $4B+...that's with a capital B...industry. Interesting.
The saying that "a rising tide lifts all boats"...I wonder how much money Auburn has made because of Battle.

True, but outside of Meyer and maybe Bob Stoops, how many hall of fame HCs are out there?
Who knows? Dabo and Jimbo may not be Urban or Stoops, but they sure as hell aren't Curry or Shula.

However, it should be pointed out that he was 70 years old when he got the gig. At that age, do you think he would have even been considered if he wasn't one of Bear's Boys?
Tell you what...go back and look at what Battle was doing in the twenty years prior, then come back and ask the question again if you're serious.

Alabama use to want other Alabama guys, now with Saban we know it doesn't matter just open up the checkbook and pay whoever is the best out there..
I think it's safe to say that the current Alabama administration isn't going to blow off another hall of fame coach so they can hire another Bill Curry.

re: Bruce Feldman's SEC Predictions
Posted by SaulWeingeroff on 8/22/16 at 1:11 pm
quote:
1. Tennessee (10-2, 6-2)
2. Georgia (9-3, 5-3)
3. Florida (8-4, 5-3)
I'm not buying these numbers. For starters, I don't think either of these three lose to any of the other four East teams.
So if they all beat each other, Georgia would have to lose at home to Auburn. That ain't happening. Or if Tennessee beats both UF and UGA, UGA still has to lose at home to Auburn.
Feldman just wanted to create a narrative that has Tennessee winning the East with two losses, then tried to build the rest of the standings around that. Tennessee could very well lose to aTm and Bama...but if they lose to UGA, then UGA won't have three conference losses. If UT loses to Florida, the Gators won't have four conference losses. He doesn't say in the article...I would like to know exactly which games he expects those teams to lose to.
He has Kentucky, Vandy, Missouri, and South Carolina with a combined 8 wins, but they only play a combined 6 games against each other. So he is predicting that...
(a) one or two of them beat one or two of the top three, and/or...
(b) the East wins one or two of these games:
KY @ ALA
KY vs. MSU
VU @ AUB
VU vs. OM
MIZZOU @ LSU
MIZZOU vs. ARK
USCe @ MSU
USCe vs. aTm
Which is it?

No, we need one of Greyson Lambert checking down to a receiver in the flats.
How about this one?

8-4 reg season, plus a bowl win.
re: Best play in your teams history .... That was negated by a penalty?
Posted by SaulWeingeroff on 8/14/16 at 6:59 pm
Kind of on the flip side...famous plays where there were penalties that didn't count...on both of The Kicks...Auburn was offsides on Van Tiffin's game winning FG, and Tennessee roughed Philip Doyle on his.
