From reading somewhere else it sounds like Shack wants to come back, dad still doesn't and Oats hasn't decided what to do.

And this is my only concern with him coming back. Shack is listening to his dad more than the actual coach. I don't want to be presumptive but there are potential red flags. If he comes back, I hope he's 100% all the way in.

Baylor's recent NC made this a little bit of a scare but he loves the state for sure

What a fricking mess. That makes it sound like Shack is just doing all this to appease his dad, but his dad is going to end up being a huge problem if he comes back.

Yep. With all the changes to this year's line up and trying to build team chemistry, it's a distraction we don't need.

An old private board that I'm on that isn't super active but has some guys who know people post stuff periodically.

Shannon Terry is back at it.

After creating Rivals and selling it to Yahoo and then creating 247 and selling it to CBS, he is now introducing his latest recruiting service, On3.

So we will have a whole new set of rankings soon enough that I assume will eventually be part of the 247 Composite rankings.

I mean what do you do in this situation if you're Oats? Seems like it's kind of a pick your poison situation. If you bring him back it's with the understanding that his dad is going to be a problem. If you don't let him come back then you lose proven production and also run the risk of being a scholarship down.

one of my biggest concerns if he comes back, is his dad pushing him to shoot every time he touches ball. i just hope oats wont let him shoot bama out of games. if he comes back

You let him come back. Don't let a kid pay for the sins of the father, especially when his decision to come back helps the team. My guess is that, if this is true, his dad has probably had these issues a while and you would have never known it with Shackelford's efforts and play on the floor.

I went back and looked at an article of his commitment here. I can definitely see that with his dad's comments, and Jaden's comments about his training schedule, that he definitely seems like the kind of guy trying to live vicariously through his son's success.

He already pretty much did that last season. Maybe he will drive and dish every time this year.

The only word of caution is just because someone posted something on a board, doesnt mean its true. Last football season, about 5 games in, someone posted that Saban had already fired our defensive coordinator, and he would be gone at the end of the season. People bought that hook, line and sinker. This doesnt sound as far fetched as as the DC firing at mid season, but still.

i have no doubt oat's biggest concern is winning. hes not an avery randomnly playing paddycakes with lineups. shack would need to show significant improvement from last season if he expects to be our kobe, otherwise i dont even see oats playing him more than half the game whether his pappys feelings are hurt or not.
the only question to me is if shack would be ok with that, and if he returns then i think he would be. he never struck me as an egomaniac anyway. his dads just retarded.

The rumor is that dad blames Oats for some of the concerns raised in Shack's draft feedback, so I don't necessarily think it's something that has always been an issue. Shack scored a lot of points and took a lot of shots the last couple of years. If his dad really is a crazy stage parent I can see where that would have made him happy and there was no problem, but when the draft feedback was negative things took a sudden turn.

With Obanor off the board I think bringing him back makes the most sense for us from a personnel standpoint by far, but I also think there needs to be a very clear understanding of what everyone's roles are so everyone is on the same page before it happens.

Jordan Harper posted that today, he had been saying Shack was leaving. I think he is talking about the 247 portal?

If he isnt in the actual transfer portal that would be huge, but I think only coaches have access to the real portal listings.

Is there a timeline for his decision or a deadline for enrollment or anything?
