Oats has gotta have something up his sleeve. There is no way all of these names enter the portal and he doesn’t even contact them if he doesn’t have a plan or someone lined up.

3.5 hours til Bediako's game, who's staying up with me?

Just doesn't seem like it would fit Oats fast paced system very well to have a lineup with two forwards and a center.

We have a spot to fill. We need a guard, but we have a spot. I’d rather have an extra 3/4 than no one. You have to think that Oats knows how to build a team.

Yeah I trust Oats. Even if we don’t sign anyone else I think we will be good, that would mean he is really confident in Miles, Holt, and/or Gary being ready to contribute in a big way.

I think the Shack news blindsided them so they are probably weighing their options. I think Oats kind of expected Primo to leave all along, which is why we have Gurley.

I think the biggest takeaway here is there are still multiple guys out there who can help us in different ways. We're not just down to adding a roster filler.

That's really good news.

Agree 100%. Listen to Oats' interview with Roger Hoover the morning before Shack entered the portal shortly before the midnight deadline. He talks as if Shack is coming back and how they can work on things Shack learned about his game through these evaluations. There had been rumors of Shack's father being mad about the evaluations but that Shack wanted to come back. Some people said Oats already had a replacement, but I agree that this one caught him by surprise.

It did not blindside him. He had already had to talk Shack back in to not leaving once before this offseason.

Canadian Jimmy Taylor in the house!

Seriously though, Canada U19 won their group. Not sure who the next opponent will be yet but it should be some better competition.

It was probably more along the lines of hoping he would come back. And who knows, Oats might still be "recruiting" him.

Obanor is someone if he wants to come you take. Your statement about him being what Rojas imagines himself to be is dead on.

We don't have to rush Frentchie back(who I think is going to be pure poison with that size and stroke) Gurley and Obanor can shoot the lights out so bigs have to come out and that opens up the rim.

Bediako can come along slower too and we can go big with him if we have matchup problems against certain teams.

Were we even recruiting him? Lol

#1 player in Alabama and neither Nate or Bruce recruited him that hard....

A little surprised that Pearl didn't give him more of a look but certainly fits Muss' style more than Pearl or Oats

This would be the biggest benefit if he did decide to come here. Being able to slowly bring back Tchikou and not lose any depth would be pretty huge. We also don't know how Bediako will play right off the bat, I think it's a little dangerous to expect too much from either of them right now even though we can all agree their potential is through the rough. I'm not sure how the lineup would work, it would certainly be easier with another 2/3 instead, but he's a guy that would be a take. It would be interesting to see a 3 Guard and 2 Forward lineup with both Gurley/Obanor able to hit from the perimeter.

Like another poster mentioned, it's not like we're filling the spot just to fill it, we're lucky there is still a lot of talent out there to choose from.

Alabama transfer Jaden Shackelford tells me that he is withdrawing from the 2021 NBA Draft and will play in college next season. Shackelford is currently in the transfer portal.

Kofi Cockburn pulled out of the draft and is now 100% transferring somewhere for 2021-22. Scuttlebutt out there sees Kentucky as a possible landing spot. That'd be quite a coup for Cal.

From what I've read, is more probable that he'll send up at Kentucky. The SEC is going to be insane next year.

We want Cockburn at UK. They are probably a little ahead of us for Shaedon Sharpe so if decides to reclass and UK is filled up we are the next top option
