Remember when you did this exact same thing with Bediako?
I definitely do. I said Chuck needed a lot of work. I remember saying he couldnt dribble or shoot. I was hard in him and i recognize now that being included on those international teams usually means that a player has really good intangibles and ability to be coached. So im a little more optimistic on Reid than i was on Chuck.
My memory isnt fresh but i dont think Chuck lit it up his first year. He was better than i thought but still an incomplete player. But that roster didnt look anything like next years roster. We now have as much depth and talent as we have ever seen. I think Reid will be a great player one day but he is going to have to work his arse off to crack the 2 deep.

I feel like the only thing that will keep Reid from getting meaningful minutes this season would be if Youngblood, Wrightsell, and Mallette end up mix and matching the 2 and 3 assignments in various lineups to maximize shooters on the floor. Of course, if Reid has developed a consistent 3pt shot then that mindset doesn't make as much sense. You can't teach size and he's the type of combo forward you'd love to have when you need to clean up on the boards but not lose spacing on offense.

Think this applies to 5-6 guys
- Mallette
- Holloway
- Philon
- Reid
- Mo
- Cunningham
Practice is going to be war for guys trying to get onto the floor.

He had his moments as a freshman. He didn't look out of place by any means. Just struggled with typical young big man type stuff like getting baited into leaving his feet.
My point is just let's wait to see how Reid looks playing with the guys he has spent all summer working with. He's primarily an off ball player, and those guys just aren't as well suited for settings like the one he's in now where there is minimal team chemistry.

I agree. But in Oats system, what kind of usage rate is there for a guy who is not a ball handler and not a shooter?
I think it comes down to how well can Reid shoot it.

I can see us running a big lineup of Philon, Reid, Grant, Sherrell, and Omoruyi at times. All depends on how well those first 4 shoot the ball next year. But shortest guy on the floor would be Philon at 6'4. NBA style lineup if they are shooting well. Could swap Grant to the 4, and Stevenson to the 3. Or go Reid, Grant, Stevenson, Sherrel, Omoruyi, and have a true super sized lineup.
or go small ball and have Sears, Wrightsell, Mallette, Youngblood, and Grant. Just run and gun teams to absolute death.
Seriously, this roster is nuts. So many variations, which means a ton of ways to win games. I can't wait till November.

Who we predicting to tear their ACL this offseason?
As long as it isn’t Sears,Sherrill, or Cliff we will be OK

quote:Juwan Gary got a lot of run in this system, and Reid (based on my eyes) has a better looking shot and better vision at this point than Gary every did at Alabama. Granted, we weren't as talented then, but Mallette and Cunningham may be the only other natural 3s on this squad, so there are certainly minutes up for grabs at that spot.

If any of the freshman are one and done, it's Sherrell. He is an explosive athlete at 6"10-11". Very excited to see what he brings this year.

He played like a freshman. Has great moments and plenty where you wanted to strangle him. Pretty much exactly what i expect from a freshman PG or Center. Those are the toughest transition in college, for different reasons.

Technically, everyone is required to work their asses off. But that's just a crazy take imo. We're stacked. But Reid is a baller, and doing pretty good coming off an injury.

Houston Mallette wearing #95…..that’s gross.

Where do you think he fits in the 2 deep?

Sounds like a way to say we're not getting a new arena any time soon without actually saying it.

Rates will be dropping soon and we’re probably going to see a leveling of production cost.
There is a big fatigue in new build in both commercial and residential so hopefully in a couple of years everything will be set. I definitely want a new arena, but if we’re using that money for NIL then I’d rather watch a great team in a mid building than a shite team in a palace.

Copper prices hit all time high recently. It will surpass that once the fed surrenders to inflation.

There’s no definite way to know what is going to happen, but reading the tea leaves….rates are definitely going to start dropping. Bank of Canada is already cutting them.
Consumer spending is way down and companies seem to think that trend will continue. Buyers are worn out and have blown through savings and maxed out cards. Target, Walgreens, Walmart, etc all just announced major discounts on what you would think are household items because people are skimping on everything.
Housing prices are going to level/drop for at least the next little bit as, again, people have their pockets turned out.
Seems to me when that happens that construction will go down or level as well.
