Bruce Pearl is on a different level than Oats. That is painfully obvious.

Pearl is one of the top 5-7 college Bball coaches in the country and likely moving up the ladder.

We have been inconsistent all year and I guess last night could have been predicted but for some reason, last night was the biggest let down of the year for me. Just numb to the NCAAT now. We do some of the dumbest stuff on the court it is baffling …. Look like a newborn horse at times

His style is good. It's already been proven it can dominate both non conference and conference schedule just look at last year's team. The problem this year is we just don't have the right pieces to fit both offensively & defensively.

For example...last night Bediako couldn't defend the pick and roll down the stretch because one he's still young with minimal experience and right now he's not quick enough to do it.

Defensively...we got to get guys who are athletic and who's willing to guard period.

Offensively... we lacked knockdown shooters, an explosive big, and a closer.

We got a closer coming in (Brandon Miller) and we got the explosive big (Nick Pringle)

Think about having..
Burnett 6'4
Holt 6'6
Ellis 6'6
Miller 6'9
Pringle 6'10

On the floor at the same time! They would lock stuff down defensively and be able to score.

When you can’t shoot or defend, it is a wonder Alabama got to 19-13

We need more length defensively. Point Blank. We can’t hide JQ, JD, and Shack on defense and it shows. Shack and JQ just aren’t good on defense and JD has never had to play defense in his life before this year. We had the same problem during Oats first year with Kira and Beetle. Oats needs long Guards for defense and that’s why all these players he is recruiting are the same body type.

I wonder if Nate ever thought about playing Miles and Ellis at the 1&2 together this year some. It seems like that lineup would be able to defend.

But then Idk if you could trust a lineup with Miles& Ellis at the 1&2 to score enough

Would it have been any worse than what JD and Quinerly did last night? The problem would be turnovers since they're both adequate but not great ball handlers. But hey, it's not like they'd have turned it over a lot more either.

Yep, so the only problem right now is that we have to wait till next season because he has guys coming in to fix the problems we have. We got to find some more SHOOTERS though. I almost forgot something we most definitely need...

I don't know if I've ever seen a team of talented players this collectively basketball stupid. There has been absolutely 0 development. Still doing the same stupid shite they did at the beginning of the year. And they do these things continuously. The unforced turnovers, stupid fouls, passes to nowhere, driving straight into trouble(especially baseline), lack of effort...etc, are driving me nuts. I don't think I've ever disliked a Bama team more than this one.

I think the shooting issues are from the laziness too. I almost guarantee you they have lazy eyes when they shoot, and aren't consistently aiming at the correct spot. They also shuffle their feet awkwardly, hesitate, and lastly, don't shoot with conviction. There is 0 belief the ball is going in as it leaves their fingers.

I played basketball for a long time. I loved playing defense, and I knew/still know, how to shoot. I know this game, and I know how talented this team both is and isn't. It's driving me nuts to watch them.

I will say regarding the refs last night. Take an inconsistent team, and subject them to inconsistent refs, and they will most likely crumble. When effort is an issue, being punished by refs when you're actually giving said effort will make a mentally weak player quit.

Y’all remember hearing last year how Bruner would make guys get in the gym and fricking work during the summer? I guarantee Shack and JQ didn’t do that. I guarantee all our returners that were suppose to be leaders got complacent because of last season and didn’t put in extra work this offseason and all the new guys followed suit.

Of all the stupid shite they do night in and night out, bailing the defense out by driving into the "extra" defender and picking up their dribble along the sideline or even in a fricking corner is their biggest basketball sin IMO. That's the kind of shite you learn not to do in fricking 7th grade.

Oats is done with this group IMO. He has tried everything and it hasn’t worked. On that SECInside Monday he just look like he was ready for this season to be over

That's for sure. Shack was out there seeing where else he could play.
Who knows about Q.

Pretty sure he knew he couldn't go far with this group and just tried to make the best of it. The consistent answers after losses tells me he has no idea how to make it better.

You can pretty much figure us losing the first round game. We will come in defeated mentally on a down turn and our opponent will probably be some hungry mid major looking for the upset that's happy to be there.

Right now, we're looking at a 6 seed which could end up a 7. I guess it depends who we get though. Lunardi has us as a 6 against Michigan. They are in the same boat as us right now. He has Davidson as an 11 also. We get someone like that and they'll probably run us off the court.

Some times basketball teams just don't come together on the court like they do on paper and unless you see a clear year over year pattern it's usually not a coaching thing. Oats has Bama in great shape and depending on the portal you will probably be pre-season top 10-15 next year.

I love Oats and I love his system. I love what he’s done here the first three years. I mean think about it, pages and pages of people complaining and this is still going to be a 6 or 7 seed in the tournament. If that’s a down year, then the future is pretty damn bright.

That said, I don’t think Oats has done a great job this year. If someone would’ve told you in December that this team would be 19-13 and 9-10 after the SEC tourney, you’d say we underachieved. There was no improvement or development as the year went on. None. Same mistakes. Same turnovers. Same bewildering lack of effort in certain games. Same postgame quotes.

Oats is young and he’s still learning but I’d like to see some staff shakeups in addition to roster shakeups. Just a really frustrating year

Thank God they won’t schedule a rematch in round one. I have zero desire to see them again this year.
