Just got home from the game tonight. Lost my voice yelling at the refs but I feel good about it.
Bediako played amazing defense in the first half. I gotta eat a ton of crow on that guy bc I did not think he was ready to bang with SEC teams. He is probably the most improved player on the team since the season started. He was a damn wall around the basket tonight. He uses his length really well. He's focused and carries himself very maturely. I got to the game early to let the kids watch the warms up and I saw Bediako make several nice shots from the corner. He's got that up his sleeve one day.
The crowd was pretty quiet until Oats got kicked out. We stayed on the refs the whole game. The Miles dunk at the end was pretty cool. I was screaming for him to hold the ball. The place went crazy after that.
Looked like a good solid all around team win. I was really impressed by the interior defense and rebounding.
I noticed that Shack was getting a lot of treatment from one of the trainers before the game. He was working mostly on his left hip, and he seemed to be in a lot of discomfort with some of the stretching.
Alex Tchikou was nowhere to be found on the alabama bench. I was sitting right behind them and I think he'd be easy to spot. Anybody know what's up with that?

I'm assuming the officials knew he was there too, making the thin-skinned ejection tech even more confusing. Maybe he didn't like Oats making him look bad in front of his boss...

What’s the story of that meme? Seen it a few times

Told ya you were overreacting to that U-19 tournament. He's young and raw. The development curve has been a bit steep with him, but it looks like he's starting to really put it together at the right time. If he can develop his shot over the offseason to the point that he's at least a guy you have to pay attention to on the perimeter he's going to be a beast as a sophomore. Especially if JD comes back as well. They seem to have good chemistry despite the lack of experience playing together.

One area Bama deserves more credit is their FT shooting. 18-23 tonight (JQ, Rojas, Miles, JD all perfect). Alabama now 3rd in FT% in conference play.
3rd?…wow!
Last nights FT performance can’t be overlooked and might have been the difference.

I guess there is always the portal for some guys to leave if they choose but this team should mostly return intact bc the NBA is a pipe dream at this point

Nah the team will look a lot different. We’ve got 5 guys already signed. So Gurley, Rojas, plus three more are for sure gone.

Ellis is also gone unless he can use his COVID year, but I doubt he does even if he can. Tchikou is almost definitely hitting the portal after getting like 8 minutes all season. Wouldn't be surprised to see KAH go either.

Oh yea. I mean our main guys who get minutes who think they may be ready like JQ, Shack and JD . JQ might try it but the others should return

Got it done last night which was all that mattered. The ejection didn't bother me much. Hoops is a game of momentum and that's one way to change it. Miles D late in the game was better than his offense. I've not been high on him but last night he played great, best of the year. That loose ball he got at one point was excellent. He battled to bigger kids to get it.
BEAT THE CATS!
We've split the last 6 with them. I feel good about it.
We need arkansas to fall apart starting Saturday to get that bye in the tourney. It can still happen but we need the Vols to sweep those games. It would be nice to get out of Auburns side of the bracket but we'd need to go the wrong way for that to happen. I don't think Ken is near as good as Auburn on their best days.
and Rojas? Did anyone expect anything out of him? He's giving us good minutes.

Keon was -17.3 Box Plus Minus tonight.
He has probably been the biggest disappointment for me this year. Not because he's necessarily been BAD, but I expected him to take over more as a leader and step up offensively. I just don't think he has that mentality. Most of the time his body language looks bad and he's gesturing wildly about his latest reach in foul. He has talent and I'm sure he's saying the right things, but from my couch he just doesn't look like more than a role player.

Neither Shack nor JQ gain anything by spending another year in college unless they're low key making a ton of NIL money. They aren't going to get any taller or show any skills they already haven't. I'd be surprised if either is back. You never know, but I just don't see the point for either of them. They're both destined for careers overseas and another year of college won't change that.

I wonder if Nate wants either of them to return for another go.

Maybe to get a degree? If that was the case , there would be no senior basketball players across the country… might improve too

Agree about Ellis. Thought he would be a team leader, but has been a distraction all season. It's all. In his head.
