KAH and Holt are good defenders who just don't do much of anything on the other end. I don't think there's much more to it than that. It takes time for a lot of guys who aren't 1st round types to learn how to play basketball within the structure of a college system. The part that's a bit odd to me is that there appears to be no rhyme or reason behind when they play. Their minutes are totally sporadic and don't appear to be based on matchups or foul trouble.

They clearly like to switch everything late in games. It always seemed like the biggest reason why Bediako never closed games, even when he was playing well.
If we’re going to go with that, I’d just prefer that we shorten the rotation a bit and pick some combination of JQ, JD, Shack, Ellis, Miles, Gary, Rojas. Gurley and Holt if we’re in foul trouble or someone is injured.

I've heard it is more his understanding what to do, especially on defense. For example, last night, we went to an all guard line up (Miles, like Herb last year, at "center")and switched constantly on D to stay in front of their guards who were somehow draining threes
That could be it, but my first thought would be well Bediako doesn't really do those things either. But, Bediako can do a little bit more with blocking shots and lobs.
I think KAH has a few moves on offense that can be useful. He's pretty decent at taking the ball to the rim and getting put backs.

The change to pressuring the ball at 3/4 court completely changed the game. It got Missouri out of being comfortable, which totally wrecked their offense. And, more importantly, it flipped a switch of engagement on the defensive end with everyone on our team. It was like we'd been playing on our heels defensively for 6 weeks and then all of a sudden we attacked the ballhandlers for 2 possessions and completely changed. I don't know if it was the threat of being embarrassed in the open floor or that some guys just need to be forced into a situation in like that to really turn their juice on, but it was a NOTABLE difference in the effort and intensity on the defensive end once we went to max pressure.
I dunno if that is transferable against teams with ballhandlers that will beat high pressure, but I'd much prefer seeing us get beat that way than sagging back and letting team get into the lane every possession. I have to imagine that we come out playing that way in Athens.

Positives from last night
- Offensive rebounding continues to be a strength
- We might have found something defensively that at least gives us a chance to compete
- Our 5 main shooters had nice shooting nights from 3 (9/20) (JQ, JD, Keon, JD, Miles). Hopefully that continues.
- When we started playing pressure defense Keon came alive on both ends of the floor. Like with the defense in general, maybe that pace and style on defense is what is needed to push him into playing aggressive all over the floor. We need it badly and when he does it in the flow of the game it's a huge plus.

Y’all think there’s any chance we’re ranked this week? Last week we were 11-6 and 29th in the AP Poll. This week we’re 13-6…I’m thinking we’ll probably still be right outside, but it would be cool to be ranked going into the Baylor game

I haven't looked at which teams from 15-25 lost this week, but I'd imagine there's a decent chance we are at #23-25. Barely out, name recognition, 2 for 2 in wins with one of them over a Top 15 team.
Obviously it doesn't really matter but yea I'd probably lean towards yes.

#20 Xavier is playing at Marquette rn. Would be nice if they lost

I did like the aggressiveness on the defensive end in second half. We need to do that more often.

They clearly don't think that he matches up well against Missouri. The only 2 times he's played less than 10 minutes this season are both games against Mizzou - 8 minutes per game in each of them.

3PT Shooting - Last 2 Games
> Ellis - 40% (4/10)
> Miles - 40% (2/5)
> Davison - 38% (3/8)
> Shack - 31% (5/16)
> Quinerly - 20% (2/10)
> Rojas - 0% (0/5)
> Gurley - 0% (0/2)
Our 5 main 3 pt shooters are 16/49 (33%) the last 2 games. So not great, but definitely better. All of them but JQ are at least back into "average" range over that stretch.
