Absolutely agree

JQ was fantastic in the first five or so minutes last night. I thought something clicked and that was going to be the turning point to his season, but we all saw what happened after that. His outside shot is just broken - 2/10 3PA last night - and he passed on the potential game winning wide open corner three that he would have drained without hesitation last season. 14 points, 6 boards and 5 assists is a solid stat line on its own, but not when you also have 4 turnovers and shoot 4/19 from the field with a handful of shots being blocked/tipped at the release point. His 3P shooting has been shite all season, but he's on this weird every other game stretch of having an efficient scoring night from inside the 3P line since the beginning of December.
No need to pile on Q, because Shack deserves his fair share of blame as well. His greatest ability has always been shooting, especially catch and shoot three's. He was 2/8 from range and 4/14 overall. He's been pretty terrible since the Houston game, except for maybe the Davidson game. Shack's biggest weakness is a total lack of self awareness. I don't know if he's watching too much NBA or if he's got too many people in his ear, but he needs to do a better job of playing to his strengths and acknowledge the fact that he is not bigger, faster or stronger than he actually is. A 6'3" rhythm catch and shooter with limited ball handling, court vision and athleticism is not the next James Harden. He lost some minutes to Miles last night and deservedly so.
Keon continues to just be an average/above average asset on offense. He's had moments this year where he's been a force on offense, but he's another that just can't find any consistency. As bad of a shooting team as we are, it feels like Keon routinely misses the crucial wide arse open looks that just make you scratch your head.
JD has a 12/3 ast/to ratio over the last three games, and playing pretty well overall. His lack of an outside shot hurts, but he's gaining confidence in attacking the rim and he needs to continue to do that.
Miles played really well last night and saw a boost in minutes (third most on the team). He's still a little raw, but the talent is definitely there to unlock. I like the idea of Miles picking up some of Shack's minutes moving forward. JQ, JD, Shack and Miles should all be playing roughly the same amount of minutes. When the time comes in the second half of a close game you can mix and match based on the specific situations of that particular game. There is no reason for it to just be JQ and Shack out there by default. I don't care about seniority or what they did last year or status or any of that. I want to win ball games and if that means Shack (or anyone) has to sit the bench for the last 5-6 minutes because he's shooting poorly then so be it.

Are we adding any pure shooters?
For a 3 pt team we lack shooters and drive wildly a lot.

Yeah I agree. I think the talent was better last year than we knew at the time (Hindsight is always 20/20).
Yea. 1st round Primo starting now for San Antonio, highest paid 2nd rounder in history Herb starting and playing big minutes for Pelicans, and Petty playing for Pelican's G League team were much better than our current guard/ wing rotation. JD does have a chance to get drafted 1st round, but that's it. We will have longer, better players next year. Just hope this bunch can make the NCAA tournament.

Unfortunately Auburn does not look beatable this year. The UConn loss was flukey and was in double OT.
Last night might have been their toughest road test as they will cakewalk through their home schedule. Maybe Gonzaga or
Baylor can get them in the NCAA tournament.

Pure shooters? No. Griffen is probably the best shooter out of the guys we have coming in right now, but he can do more than just spot up for 3s. He and Miller are both pretty well rounded players on the offensive end. Bradley isn't a particularly good shooter from what I've seen, but defensively his ceiling is significantly higher than either JQ or Shack.

quote:Yes we are. Rylan Griffen is one of the best shooters in the upcoming class, Brandon Miller is another top shooter (maybe the best recruit we’ve ever had come in, we’ll see), and Oats said Nimari Burnett was the best shooter in the off-season until he went down. If we can find the right fits down low, I think next years team has the potential to be our best ever.

Barring something unforeseen, we’ll be starting 3 5*s in Bradley, Miller, and Bediako, and have a lot of talent on the bench.

JMO but Talent is a word used way to often in both Bama BB and football.
Performance is the measuring stick and not rankings.
Talent is a feel good word.

If he just means good shooters then yeah Griffen and Miller are both guys who should be in the ~35% range from outside. When someone says pure shooter my brain just goes to dudes like Petty or [insert generic white guard from Duke].

Just getting back home.
The season ticket holders that sit in the first 20 rows behind the bench can basically frick off (sorry for the poor language) but if you can't go to the game, that's fine, there's a ton of fans that would love a seat 20 rows from the floor behind the bench. Make an effort. Or give them away on you rolltide site. All you do is hit a link. It's pathetic. That shite pisses me off so bad.
Otherwise, the crowd was good. Probably 1500 Aub fans. I've never heard it louder than when they made the run to tie it. Place was lit.
Hate we could never take the lead. I didn't think we played all that bad. They controlled what we did a good bit. They are really good. I don't seem them losing much in the SEC, probably none at home, maybe @ LSU and one more.
We need to win 3 of the next 4. (@MSU, LSU, Miz, UGa).
Green and Smith are legit. Not sure what you do to stop them. Too good.
It's not the end of the world. BEAT STATE!

State is like top 40 NET. It will be tough.
Luckily nobody ever shows up to their home games so hopefully it won’t be that loud

None of us know about performance until the games are played, so talent and experience are what we can base future projection on. We win in football because we have great talent meet great coaching and development. Without one or the other, we wouldn’t be winning the way we do there.

We don’t know how the guys on the team will produce next year, but we have a heck of a lot of “talent” for the coaches to work with to try and have them perform up to that potential.

Haven’t seen them play, but just looking at their schedule, their best win is Arkansas. They didn’t do much non conference
