LOLOL shite I forgot one of the great tenants of SnBism - any season that doesn't end in a national title is a failure.

I’m waiting on the comical “college basketball is judged differently than other sports!” replies.
Ummm, no it’s not. 16th place is sh*tty in every other sport, and it’s sh*tty in college basketball.

Finishing in 16th place is so easy we'd done it 1 time in the 29 years between 1992 and 2020.
Once. 29 years.
Once. 29 years.

16th out of around 350 teams in basketball is way better than 16th out of about 120 teams in football.

I don’t agree with Saban n’ Bear’s original post, but just comparing total number of teams, isn’t right either.
The vast majority of those 350 teams are wholly irrelevant. It’s really just the power conferences plus a handful of mid majors in both.

Program has sucked for so long, it’s perfectly reasonable to be okay with where we are now.
I think between tournament wins I graduated elementary school and then graduated with a master’s. I could have the years slightly wrong, but we went through a long drought.

For one, there are 6 “power” conferences in basketball if you want to call them that, but those other conferences include teams like Houston, Memphis, Gonzaga, Cincinnati, etc. much more parity in basketball and therefore a Sweet 16 run is much more notable than being the 16th best school in football.

The team with the 4th most championships in football has 14, the one with the 4th most in basketball has 5 if that makes a difference. Even if you don’t include those pre-1920 Ivy League titles, it would be 9 for football.

I mean I understand students being mad, but they’re only allotted so many seats so when that hits capacity, oh well.
The problem I have with it is that we had empty paid seats. Quite a bit of them. They should at least let the next 1,000 or so students who couldn’t get in wait until like 10 minutes into the game to see if those seats fill-in, and if not, let them go sit there.
It makes no sense to turn away students because it’s at capacity when you have empty seats elsewhere.

Yeah I agree with this. I’m just saying the 350 vs 130, or whatever the exact numbers are, is a bit exaggerated.
It’s more like, just guessing, 120 vs 70 in terms of programs that have any business competing with us.

I am a bad fan I guess but just getting into the Tournament is a big deal for me. Winning the 1st round game is really great. Anything more is gravy.
Nate as well as his team has to get better and fast.

Problem is there more talent on this team than that.

I guess. This is a solid roster, but JD is the only guy I see getting drafted outside of a potential second round flyer on Q or Ellis.
Maybe Bediako is a future draft prospect.

Yea, I'm not sure the talent is that great on this roster, and it's almost all flawed in some way (youth for Bediako/JD, defense and athleticism for some of the upperclassmen).

Also, Oats has to fix the effort/focus at the beginning of games. How do we not play the first half with the same intensity we play the last 7 or 8 minutes of the game? That has also been a constant the last few weeks.
Oats says all the right things, but the one group that doesn’t seem to be listening to him is the players.

I think with the way we are recruiting, we have the potential to have our most talented rosters in front of us, especially next year. I actually think next year we could be really good, especially if we can pick up Gurley-like transfer in the portal again or if Gurley wants to use his COVID year. We just still lack some seasoned vets that take on leadership roles
