We shoot a much higher percentage on 3s coming in transition and off-ball action than we do on 3s coming from iso action (either from the guy with the ball or the stationary kick-out guy). The problem is we don’t get in transition much because we aren’t disruptive at all defensively. So basically I wouldn’t expect any changes in perimeter shooting until we find some urgency on the defensive side of the court.
In conclusion - just set your clocks for 90 minutes after tip, then turn the game on. That way you'll only see the part of the game when we start playing aggressive and with a sense of urgency.

We will play Torvik's Top 6 teams a total of 7 times
1. Gonzaga
2. Baylor
3. Houston
4. Auburn
6. LSU
Not really sure LSU is a top 6 team, but still

Holt needed more minutes.
Based on what?!?! He played 7 minutes tonight - he definitely did not stand out with any defensive plays. He was billed as one of the best shooters in this incoming class and he is shooting 9% from the field and and 1-9 from three for a 11.1% clip. I seriously think he should have redshirted and beginning to think he may should end up in the portal,

Yep great recruiter average coach. We were beat tonight by a better team with a better coach. Oats is the classic "roll the balls out coach". No in game adjustments EVER.

Because he played tremendous defense! Benefit guys who are putting out the EFFORT that's needed to win.

We are a reverse Gottfried team. Instead of racing out to a big early lead before shooting ourselves in the dick for the final 30 minutes we shoot ourselves in the dick for the first 30 minutes and then spend the last 10 desperately trying to claw back in.
I've got to be honest, I'm pretty much sick of watching this team at this point. I just don't like them. Especially JQ and Shack. Kinda looking forward to a mutual parting of the ways with those two after this season. Neither of them is a leader and they're both shite tier defenders.

I agree! With the exception of an occasional Bama game I watch very little basketball.... I won't be watching any now!

At this moment, it appears the "Schedule a really tough non conference slate to prepare the team for conference play" strategy is not paying dividends.

We aren’t even close to what we thought we could be after Gonzaga and Houston. That much is clear and disappointing. But all these Debbie Downers talking about NIT need to chill.
Drake was the last team in for the 2021 tournament. Here is their resume compared to ours:
2021 Drake (24-5):
Q1: 1-3
Q2: 6-0
Q1/2: 7-3
Q3: 6-2
Q4: 11-0
NET: 43
2022 Alabama (11-5):
Q1: 4-3
Q2: 3-1
Q1/2: 7-4
Q3: 4-1
Q4: 0-0
NET: 22
We already have as good a resume half way though the season as the last team in for the full 2020-21 season. We have played the hardest schedule in the country.
We can realistically go 18-13 (9-9) or 17-14 (8-10) and still make it.

We'd have to go something like 7-11 in the SEC to go to the NIT. We will end up playing one of the 3-4 toughest all around schedules of the last decade, and we've got a bunch of good and some great wins.
With that said, if we don't figure some stuff out, going 7-11 in the SEC is not some sort of crazy notion. It's absolutely possible. The league is good and we've proven the shite we're doing right now can literally lose to anybody in this league.

The committee also takes into account how a team finishes the season. We've got a good resume at the moment.

Our team is talented, but inconsistent and has a glaring weakness defensively. The guys who need to be our best leaders, JQ and Shack, I don’t think really are and that hurts this team. Our freshmen, JD and Bediako, have played mostly like freshmen outside of a few bright spots. AND out of our big transfers, one is down and the other is just finally catching his stride.
This stuff about better Lu k next year or we’re not a tournament team are garbage. We have a LOT to work on, maturity and intensity namely, but that’s why basketball is fun. The field is 68, not 4, so even if we go in as a 6-seed, we have as chance to make a run like everyone else.
I think these next 4 games are huge before the Baylor game. We have 2 very winnable games (knock on wood), a likely slugfest at Starkville this weekend, and a home game vs. the cheatin Wades that we need to win. I hope this game showed us something in the energy department and we learn from it. If we play better D like we did much of last night, I think our offense, esp. 3pt wise like others have said, will follow suit as well. JD and Miles need to play with that intensity more, Gurley just needs to play more in general, and others need to follow suit.

Yea, I think it's ok to lament the current teams play without deciding our coach is average and we're going to the NIT. Last year should have proven that the team isn't a static entity that stays the same for 3 months. Hell, this year has proven it too.

We have said this after like half a dozen games this season. It's a bit naive to think that last night will be any more of a wakeup call than Iona, USA, Memphis, Jax State, Davidson, or Mizzou were. There are no leaders on this team. The upperclassmen who should be just aren't, none of the new faces are ready for thst responsibility, and that's a big reason why our focus and energy level are so inconsistent. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that when you're down 12 with 7 minutes to go you need to start playing with a sense of urgency. Leadership is what gets teams to consistently play with a sense of urgency from the opening tip.

Do people actually think Holt is good? My God, he looks like the slowest, most un-athletic player in all of college basketball.
I hope one of the blue bloods doesn’t steal Oats from us. Byrne better build the 100+ Mill arena right now so we don’t lose him!

All jokes aside, this sh*t style doesn’t work, it’s never worked, and it never will work.
“What’s the plan Coach?”
“EVERYONE has the green light! If you can see the rim when you have the ball, then fire it up!!”

LOL wait, so now Oats sucks too?
I thought we just had to run off all of Avery's shitty players so we'd be awesome. Now we need to run off Oats shitty style so we'll be awesome?
