I imagine Memphis can’t be that great of a defensive team considering they’re on a 4 game losing streak but man they’re locking us up

Good rebounding team

I said it a couple games ago but JQ and Shack look a little bigger/slower than last year trying to get to the rim

Keon just going into a massive slump for what feels like half the season has been a bit of an issue.

We missed about three layups and we are giving up too many on the other end.

He said “up there,” not “better”…

Try again. And again, stats don’t lie. Bruner was tops on the team in almost every metric.

Good job by Memphis, we have stunk it up. We lost by missing FTs , we may lose this by turnovers. Just sloppy but some of its is Memphis.

Is it me or does it seem like we are scared to shoot this year?

At this point, I think this guy must be one of the site conversation drivers. He's not real.

Turnovers and only having 2 reliable shooters from 3, and one is Miles who is soft and turnover prone. Ellis, JQ, Gurley, Gary…Even JD doesn’t scare you from 3 although he had a monster game in Seattle. Our offense doesn’t work with only 1 reliable shooter.

Weird, this is going exactly how a lot of us said it might.

What a bunch of idiots amirite! Narratives and shite!

It's as if a lot of us have watched a significant number of basketball game over the course of many years.

Really though, we fricking suck. Turnovers, bricks, shite tier defense, it's all there tonight. If the first 4 minutes of the second half look like the first we're done.

Rebounds out of our 4-5 guys (Bediako, Gary, Gurley, Miles) = 3

Rebounds out of Shackelford and JQ = 9

- They are long and athletic and very switchable. They generally play good defense under Penny, though they've been hit or miss this year. They are excellent shot blockers (#2 in the country in block rate), and could cause issues for us if they can play disciplined and not have to help.

- They are an excellent offensive rebounding team, and they do it in the same way Houston did - with quickness. Houston kicked our arse with that, and Memphis has a similar athletic and stat profile as Houston. They could very much turn this into a one on one then slice to the rim and grab offensive boards type game, which won't be efficient in a shooting sense but can still work if you end up shooting 125% as many shots as your opponent.

- They run. It's how they want to play. They actually have played at a higher tempo this season than we have. So, they won't end up playing very much half court offense, thereby negating what they are bad at. Their offense in the halfcourt could end up being irrelevant if we end up playing a sloppy game (which we are definitely prone to do in terms of turning it over).

- We just played a war 72 hours ago with basically an 8 man rotation and it's certainly possible that we are forced to dip deeper into the bench because guys legs will not be fully there

In conclusion, shaddup.

So far, I see very convincing evidence of 3 of the 4 of these - all but offensive rebounding.

Narratives be damned!

Piss poor effort on the defensive end. I wished Coach Oats would played Jusuan because JQ played terrible along with Shack.

Ugly arse half and down 5. Ill take it

Memphis had a few offensive bounces go their way to help them but other than that their offense wasn’t just amazing.

They’ve been good defensively this whole year, but we missed lord knows how many open shots and layups combined.

Come out the 2nd half firing the first 5 mins. And keon ellis if you’d like to appear again offensively other than just fast breaks I won’t COMPLAAAIN
