Yea the COVID year helped teams like SDSU for sure. There are some experienced, grown men playing in this tournament. I mean just look at most of the teams left and the average age of their big contributors. I think it’s a big part of the reason this tournament has been especially wacky. Zero 1-seeds and one 2-seed in the Elite 8 is insane.

I think UConn will win the whole thing. Destroying Gonzaga.

Yeah but it should be us getting steamrolled in the championship.

They’ve been incredible so far for sure. Certainly look like the best team by a wide margin. Things suddenly change from one weekend to the next in this tournament though, especially when you get to the Final 4 and throw a basketball court down at midfield of a football dome. But yes it would be foolish to bet against UConn right now.

If we had won yesterday my confidence level in beating Creighton would be pretty low honestly. They’re playing incredibly well, like the preseason top ten team they were.

I actually love how they play the game too. I haven't seen one guy talking shite to opponents like JQ does and as much as I have enjoyed watching Brandon Miller he can come across cocky at times on the floor and I haven't seen that in this UConn team. Still pisses me off that freaking FAU gets to a final four and we still haven't.

Final 4 still intact: Bama Kansas St UConn Texas If Gonzaga wins (rooting for TCU though), I’ll have 9/16 which isn’t great. I’m ranked 2nd to last in my family’s pool of 12 entries but have the highest points possible. Have UConn over Kansas St in the championship but hoping Bama wrecks that with a vengeance!

Pretty meaningless consolation prize, but already locked up the family bracket pool with 5/8 elite 8 and UConn in F4 (UConn championship would give me the most lopsided victory in our pool’s history). Was hoping to see Bama wreck my bracket live from Houston, but it seems we will have to wait a few more years for the F4.

Had UConn in the Final 4 too and won a small pool tonight. 16 people and zero have their national champion left About half of that was Bama bias though :(

Look how much movement UConn has on offense.

I'm still pissed. Didn't watch anything, but looks like UConn is on another level.

frick Miles and his dumbass friend. Wish people become such pussies and are afraid to throw hands and lose. Great season derailed. frick those refs. The media got their villain defeated by Cinderella story. Goddamn Quin and his Nobé Bryant bullshite. Hate to see our best ever team go out early. But the season was peaking in January. But the pressure to became too much. But at least we can say the future is bright. And I still want that new arena.

what does that even mean as it relates to this year. Year 4 and an overall number one seed. just like in FB this past year the ending of both seasons is considered a major disappointment.

I’m still down bad. I’m heartbroken. I’ve never been this devastated after one of my teams lost.

Will probably never be as wide open and ripe for the taking as it was in our bracket and the F4 matchup.

I don’t think people realize just how well the bracket fell for us. We could be a 1 seed again and never have such a fortuitous amount of losses around us.

Doesn’t matter because this team lost their shooting touch when the calendar flipped to February and never really got it back. This was certainly a national championship winning sort of bracket for Alabama if they were just shooting in the low to mid 30s behind the arc.

When you shoot as badly as we did at the end of the year there has to be a reason.

A team of this caliber should NEVER go 3-27 from 3.

It sucks because the bracket probably will never be as favorable, but also because we also may never have this assembly of talent again. Two probable top 20 draft picks this year. One of them a generational talent like Miller, who any other year would be the first player off the board. Along with other four and five stars on this roster.

Also because of who we lost to. I can live with UCLA two years ago. They were legit. Juzang and Jauquez could go. SDSU was older and more experienced. But there was such a gap talent wise. They had one fricking guy who could really score.
One fricking guy.

Oats certainly needs to evaluate this general downward trend in 3pt shooting percentage over the course of the season. It feels like a recurring problem for Oats' Alabama teams.

You can't be a 3 and layup/dunk offense without the 3 late in the season.

I want to be clear, I'm being critical in a constructive way. Oats goal is for Alabama to cut down the nets in the last game of the season just like we all want to see one day. He seems closer to making it happen in Tuscaloosa than anyone else who has coached here since I was aware enough to follow college basketball. He's nabbed every SEC tourney title I've actually seen in my life (Wimp was winning them when I was quite young).

He's doing a lot of things right to cobble together enough wins to get a regular season title. He's adept enough in single-elimination tournaments to win the conference tourney at the end of the season.

We're talking about the big little things to navigate one of the most random gauntlets of a tourney in sports.
