We've been a 2 seed three times (86-87, 01-02, 20-21), resulting in two losses in the sweet-16 and one in the round of 32.

So all of three times in 40 years? And making the Sweet Sixteen as a 2 seed is only one game worse than you should go based on seeding.

The majority of Alabama’s basketball history is being a fringe tournament team. Yes we’ve had some really good teams in there, but there’s a reason this is our first time ever being on the one line.

I brought up the 87 loss to providence when we were a 2 seed as a reply to someone who said we made NCAA with mediocre teams.

If we run into that hot team that whips our arse unexpectedly and ends up in the final four with the next Rick Pitino as their head coach. I will have forever ruined Alabama basketball by mentioning that loss and jinxing us and will ban myself until we reach the final 4.

Him being able to guard Brown yesterday was really impressive.

Anyone know what’s up with Nimari’s minutes? Thought they were just going to Q but he didn’t even get in when Oats cleared the bench. Is he hurt?

Gotta be something. I was wondering if it was matchup based. Even if he's not hitting shots he's much better defensively than Sears. I think a defensive stopper like that can give a lot of teams trouble, especially these smaller teams we'll see early in the tourney. Burnett can shut down a team's best guard. That's huge in the tourney, even if it's only in spurts.

Do y’all really think of the 86-87 team as a national championship favorite?

That team is not on this year’s level.

I know every waxes poetic about the Wimp days in this thread, but the reality is Wimp’s teams lost in the Sweet 16 because they were just Sweet 16 caliber teams.

This is our 1st team in the modern tournament era that SHOULD make the final 4.

What a miserable shot chart from NC State. You only have to guard one side of the floor, and they don't get to the rim at all

I saw someone with a full leg brace on the sideline. Thought it was him.

Just got through watching Nate oats press conference after the game today. Guys this man is a straight up whiz when it comes to the metrics of basketball. He was asked about winning the the whole thing and he straight up said that basically he expected to be there if we played locked in D, rebound and not turn the ball over.

It's just so refreshing to hear that and not give the coach speak. I really hope we can at least get to the final four and maybe coach will stay and not be wanting to go somewhere else.

Strange for sure. All I can figure is that side of the court is where their big guy is better posting and he kicks it out same side when double teamed. Who knows. It's not ideal at all.

Ranking all 363 division 1 teams since January 1st and only in road/neutral games.

SOR - Strength of record (measuring your wins/losses vs competition level and home/road)

Offense - opponent adjusted points per possession

Defense - opponent adjusted points per possession allowed

Tempo - # of possessions per game
