Hearing Mark Pope from BYU now.

Or are they going to offer Oats a third time?

Surprising hire since, you know, they can get any coach they want.

Pope is an underrated hire. I think he could be really good at UK. It doesn't move the needle, but he can coach. And with their resources anyone can recruit there.

I actually don’t think it’s a terrible hire.
He’s done well at BYU. I know their fan base will melt, but who could have foreseen how good Oats has been here or how good Hurley has been at UConn. I think it just depends if they will give him the time and support to be successful.

I hope this humbles UK fans. They were obnoxious as shite just assuming they could get whoever they wanted. We were nowhere near that cocky about replacing Saban.

All of the divorce stuff that has never been mentioned before and then magically appears on Kentucky message boards just sounds like crap that gets started on social media and then spreads like wild fire. Seems like something Kentucky fans are telling themselves because they can’t deal with the fact that a basketball coach would choose Alabama over Kentucky.

In 5 seasons at BYU, he's been to 2 tournaments and hasn't win a game. I don't really know much else about him.

We were pretty damn cocky. And we also scared the hell out of several fanbases. So it wasn't unreasonable.

That said, i think it's much harder to win a championship in football at a small school. It's harder to actually win a basketball title, but it can be won at much smaller schools.

You fricking know it.

Really though, I don't even remember why I changed my team to SMU but I'm so used to it now I don't bother changing it back.

This is the equivalent of us hiring Shula. Only Cal didn't get caught with a hooker and Kentucky isn't on probation. No words. Their AD is daring them to fire him. Has to be.

You know during our Football search Mike Locksley started to be mentioned and we freaked out…this is like if we went ahead and actually hired Mike Locksley anyways.

If this guy didn’t play at UK ZERO chance he is even considered.

I loathed the idea of hiring Steve Prohm, but at that time he was a much better coaching candidate than Mark Pope. Not to mention, UK is one of about 5 premiere jobs in the business. It's been less than 3 days, show some damn patience...

It's like they said, "Duke and UNC gets away with this lazy shite, why can't we?"

Pretty crazy that 3 of the best jobs in basketball all became available in the last few years, and all of them resulted in 3 completely unproven coaches being hired.

They could have gotten Billy Donovan if they just waited but they were worried it would be too late to build a team for next year….hell if you gotta sacrifice next season to get Billy Donovan you do it IMO.

Alabama replaced Saban when it was still the top program in the country... and got the coach that just had his team in the NC game.

This is more like the time Bama hired former player Mike Shula... except our fans were generally supportive of that hire at the time.

There's no guarantee Billy D wants the Kentucky job. Not even any evidence other than a few randoms on Twitter claiming all kind of shite.

Our problem was we were on probation and having to make a coaching hire after spring practice. Nobody worth a damn or that would be qualified would even sniff that horrible situation.

I'd say this is more like us hiring Dubose.
