Most years I would agree with this but this year Presbyterian, Western Carolina and San Francisco have managed to do it so this was a disappointing performance for sure. Still don't understand why Dioubate is getting any minutes. What exactly does he bring? And Cosby with ZERO minutes is a head scratcher too.

An uncannily consistent ability to lower his head and bull rush into traffic for no reason?

just following Mark Sears' example.

Except Sears is our best player and he isn’t

Still top 10. Still first on offense but 73rd defensively.

We have some stupid players

Winning on the road is good. Glad we got to play our first conference game against the worst team in the league. We need to get a lot better. Don’t care what the metrics say we don’t look like a very good team.

Really disappointing for me. I like Cosby a lot - hope he isn't going to be a transfer candidate.

You dont know much about how metrics work if you think that. We’re still top 10 in kenpom and still #1 on offense.

A lot of upsets today #7 Marquette lost @ Seton Hall, #17 FAU lost @Charlotte, #19 James Madison lost @ Southern Miss to name a few. Anything can happen in conference play when you go on the road.

Team is not very good, vandy sucks should have won that by double digits especially with their point guard going out. Auburn going to blow us out at AU. None of mid major transfers can defend. Still no true PG and way too mNy turnovers against a shitty team. Will be on the bubble.

No one is catching Bama in AdjOE any time soon lol. It’s basically Bama then the field.

Was a quad 3 win too.
I know Vandy is around 200 in KenPom but I bet they finish in the top 150. They played us and Memphis really tough, they have some good players. They’re gonna upset a couple of good teams before its over I bet.

We look like a top 5 team at times and look pretty bad at times. Our ceiling is definitely very high.
We’re at our best when the ball is moving we’re and finding the open guy like it was at times today when we were up big. We’re at our worst when we have guys trying to play hero ball and driving into a crowded area and turning it over or shooting a terrible shot like we did a lot in the second half.
Estrada not playing much in the second half hurt, he’s our best passer and one of out best rebounders.
I dont like some of the lineups we play at times, Didnt understand why Wague or Pringle werent in with like 4 minutes left and Vandy was getting a ton of offensive rebounds. We need to get our rotations figured out, they seem random at times.

High level thoughts:
1) Mark Sears hero ball for long stretches of a game will result in a few good highlights, and several frustrating turnovers that will cost us the game against any decent team, which is why we’re 0-5 in Q1 games.
2) Estrada is an elite rebounder. He’s also our best facilitator and appears to have gotten over whatever funk was making him force everything in OOC. His shooting confidence isn’t quite back yet, but hopefully growing.
3) Vandy is a really, really bad team that played without arguably their best player for most of the last 10 minutes. Always thankful to win a game, but this was the team’s first truly disappointing game. That Vandy team may not win 4 games in the SEC this year, and we should have easily beaten them by 15+. Hopefully this serves as a wake up call if we get a big lead that you can’t lose your intensity.
4) Rylan Griffen man, you’re a good player, but we need you to be good and smart. Stop fouling 3 point shooters, especially ones shooting out of rhythm!! Fouling after a missed free throw with 1.1 seconds up 3 points should be an absolute crime. There’s a reason Oats had all other Bama players at half court…TO NOT GET A DUMB FOUL!!!!
I’m not sure there’s much to take away from this one, hope it was just a lack of intensity and focus after getting up big and Mark thinking he needed to do too much when Estrada went down.
P.S. what happened to Wague as I missed why he only played 7 minutes?

Sears trying to play hero ball at the end of games has cost us a few times. I love him and he’s been playing at an SEC 1st team level most of the season but he has to understand he cant do it all. Him dribbling 10 seconds then driving to the goal with 2 people on him Leroy Jenkins style at the end of games isn’t going to cut it, kick it out to the open guy, we have a ton of good shooters.

Speaking of which Ole Miss is proving to everyone they are what the metrics said they were by getting blown off the court.

Yep. They werent very high in the metrics, they were 79 on KenPom before this game. They had a great record but haven't really played anyone. The metrics knew they were frauds. I think they were ranked in the AP but that basically ranks teams based on the record. KenPom and sites like that are a Much better gauge of how good a team is than the AP or coaches poll.
I saw that Auburn moved up to 5 on KenPom that seems about right. Congrats on the big win @Arkansas today.
