didnt we start slow last year too. At least our losses have come to P 5 schools. But we are giving up way too many points

We don't have the talent to win big this year like last year, but Oats has done way better than I imagined just putting together a new staff and salvaging recruiting decently after losing several good recruits when his two top recruiters left for head coaching jobs. The new staff did well in the early period, and I have no doubt they will pull in good players in the spring.

What is different from last year is the difference in position balance.
I'm not talking about the difference in skill and level between the players that were there last year and the players that are on the team now.
Once again, the difference is in positional balance.
Last year, the best player on the team was a SF player and there were two big men who knew how to play team defense.
However, currently the best player on the team is the PF position player, and he is a player who specializes in offense, not defense.
And the two ball handlers are players who specialize in offense rather than defense.
That is why I would like to say that structurally, there is a difference in team defense compared to last year.

I don't follow what you mean since it is 7-7 right now. Arkansas beat Duke without their best player and Kentucky pounded Miami and Tennessee lost at North Carolina but outscored them by 14 in the 2nd half. Bama will be lucky to end up on the top 5 in the SEC. It's way better than you think it is.

Here’s a chance to support the NIL efforts for the current Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams:

I posted that not knowing the SEC was able to pull even with the ACC with a couple of late night wins for the SEC.

It really is. Teams like Ole Miss, Mizzou, and South Carolina are better than anybody predicted - so are Kentucky and Auburn.

Per a quote Oats said Pringle is suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. Made it seem like off the court issue but not serious.

Any clue?

Nick Pringle has been suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team. Oats says it’s not for anything serious off-court.

That sucks. His head just doesn’t seem like it’s in the right spot.

Oats probably hasn't been a fan of his effort defensively and rebounding. Maybe he didn't respond very well to Oats calling him out? Who knows...

Need all the help we can get down low but if he isn't locked in then it wouldn't help us anyways.

I might be the only one, but with the way he's been playing, I don't think that it is a bad thing for us at all. He needs a wake-up call, and the public call outs apparently weren't the ticket.

I think with Edey, I'd rather go with Nelson more at the 5 anyways. Will likely get abused down low, but at least we will force Edey to guard the perimeter.

Also Oats pretty much confirmed that they're thinking about burning Parker's redshirt, noting how much he's improved in practice.

Sounded like the opposite to me. He said they weren't going to burn it unless he would play substantial minutes.

Yeah, of course when you isolate that part of my post, it makes it look ridiculous

But it's called giving up some advantage on one end to get a bigger advantage on the other end. Wague will be able to guard Edey a little better than Nelson, but he will still get destroyed and we will still have to throw all the doubles and dig downs at him. Putting Nelson at the 5 however doesn't really allow Purdue to go man without putting him in a very vulnerable position. If they go zone, we will have 5 capable shooters to break it.

If we had Bediako, I wouldn't suggest it, but we need to gain some type of advantage out of the 5-spot with how badly Edey will destroy us inside regardless of who plays that position.

We will need all 5 of Pringle’s fouls against Edey to cover 10-15 min of game time. He’s going to foul out at least 2 of our bigs

I think that's good of Nate Oats to suspend him. I don't know what he's done so let me get that out there but I remember when he done the same thing to John Petty and it lit a fire in JP so hopefully it'll work again just like it did years ago.

Arkansas State is about to lose to Little Rock. That’s not a good look for Hodgson.
