I don't understand booking this kind of out-of-conference schedule for baseball. Doing okay in the SEC is good enough to make the post-season without needing a stout OOC schedule.

Because whipping up on cupcakes pre-conference does absolutely nothing to prepare you for conference play or improve your chances of making a regional.

We went something like 17-1 before conference play in 2019, entered conference play unranked, and went 8-22ish in conference.

Beating up on teams with pitchers throwing 85 MPH down the middle and then facing SEC pitchers averaging 95 MPH is just not a good situation anymore.

2 years ago I would have disagreed with everything I just said.

Since I’m already in a grumpy mood today I’ll continue into the baseball thread. Where are the media relations and social media departments when it comes to baseball? We get a ‘practice is at X’ post once a day on the Twitter page if we’re lucky and a ‘please buy season tickets’ promo at the basketball game and little else during spring practice. The team is scrimmaging several times a week and nothing is reported to generate interest and excitement in the program. Who pitched and how did they do? Who got hits? Who made great plays? Who scored? What was the score? A work-study student (with some boundaries) could generate more activity, publicity and interest than what we’re getting today. Even the booster club seems to be floundering with no membership info nor recruitment less than two weeks from first pitch. And no night games until March 11? (and 3 pm weekday starts until then)

What are we trying to do to a program that needs all the help it can get? Does this media silence somehow give us an advantage in players getting NIL deals? Are we just giving up? #primalscream

Now all you kids get off of my lawn. But before you go tell me how much I have to pay to get my seats in the new arena.

Your rant is warranted and you're not wrong. You couldn't be more right on the booster club membership information, or lack thereof. I tried to donate to the club but the site was severely lacking and not a lot of information. I almost feel like our fans have just given up at this point. It seems like no matter how well we recruit it's always going to be worse than at least 5 of the SEC West programs. Maybe that apathy is leaking to the membership.

There are a couple of guys on Twitter that routinely post updates from the baseball scrimmages - Roger Patrick Meyers and Rick Pendley.

But I agree that our athletic department sucks when it comes to putting baseball information out there. Ole Miss has a "Ole Miss Baseball Analytics" twitter page that puts out great stuff from their scrimmages. I'm sure there other others doing great work too.

It's very similar to the effort put into the broadcasts that go onto the ESPN app early in the season. Other schools will have multiple cameras, graphics, stats. We will have one camera in the pressbox and the radio feed over the top of it.

The Extra Point: Highlighting Some of Alabama Baseball's Transfer Portal Additions

With just under two weeks until baseball season, here's a look at some notable transfer players that Alabama added in the offseason.

I'm planning to go to the UGA game on that Saturday in April. I know with baseball there's not a visitors section but Im' guessing there will be at least one little area wiht a few dozen seats for the opposing player familieis and stuff? I guess the best option for me is to just go to AL's AD website and buy a ticket but what section should I be looking for?

Years ago it was down the 3rd base line, but that was pre-renovation so I'm not positive now.

Fan can probably help you out, he's got season tickets.

Thanks. I assume I'd want the farthest section out, either A or T, but didn't really know where to ask other than here.

The dugouts flipped with the renovation to the Joe. Visiting teams are down the 1st base line and Bama is along the 3rd base line (closest to the field house, lockers, lounge, indoor practice area, etc.). Most of the time visiting fans start in the upper stands around section DD - but unless Bama is on some kind of miracle run (:prayinghandsemoji:), you can pretty much sit wherever you want once you get in. The lower infield seating (section F-P) has been off limits without a ticket for innings 1-3. After that you can sit in those sections except behind home plate - premium seating reserved for the entire game.

interesting, DD looks right in the middle of that 1st base side seating. Should I shoot for that instead of farther out like AA or BB?

Naturally, the closer to home plate you sit the more Bama fans you’ll have around you and the further you go to the outfield the fewer Bama fans you’ll have. Personally I think you’re safe getting tickets anywhere and you can move around the stadium pretty much at will. In the past, you could ‘go up’ in the stands without question and can go low outside of sections F-P. After the 3rd inning you can move to most of those sections as well.
