I just don't really see any need to even be nervous.

Outside of the internal hires of 2018 (and even those weren't awful), Saban's outside OC hires have all been absolute home runs on dudes who we bought low on and are now at the pinacle of offensive football in the sport (Kiffin, DaBoll, Sark).

We're gonna hire somebody great, and it'll be exactly what Saban wants moving forward.

reality is we won’t know shite for at least 2 weeks

We'll just have to keep an eye out for any external offensive analysts he consults with over next couple of weeks.

Bringing in Herman for that alone might be worth it for a Day led tOSU

Saban has already gone in record as saying the offense has changed the game. So, you got to believe he will look for someone to continue in the fashion. Personally, just give me a guy that can develop a QB, recruit, and make in-game adjustments. I think that’s what I liked about Sark. He is great about those in-game adjustments.

I think Herman would be the guy to start with.

What if goes to Texas and comes back when Saban retires?

I mean, I would love that. BUT, I just can't see him leaving Texas to come back and be the OC for Kiffin at Alabama.

I dunno, though. Maybe if the pay is right and things aren't going well in Texas.

If for nothing else, he could analyze the color of each player's piss and find out who's letting the team down.

That would be an incredibly underwhelming hire.

A lot of Alabama fans said the same thing about Kiffin and Sark

Difference is that Kiffin and Sark had some prior success. Applewhite doesn’t have the same level of success.

Lol. Those are on every military base, as well with different wording per branch.

It would make no sense to leave a possible starting job on a top college team.

He'd be leaving for a guaranteed starting spot with the coach he wanted to play for since he was 12.

He might stay, but I won't be surprised at all if he leaves.

We would pay 3M+ for a good OC. That means pretty much any assistant coach in college is in play. It also opens a lot of NFL coaches are in play as well.

Someone from one of the top offenses in the NFL could work. Someone from KC's staff that likes to recruit?

I'm not sure the point is competence of the new hire. It is about comfort level, trust and relationships.

That said, had he not been on campus for a year building new relationships, friendships, etc and/or if Sark was heading back to a west coast school where BY could be closer to home, I'd be slightly more concerned.

As it stands, it very well could happen. But, I like the chances of keeping him.

We aren't going to pay $3 million to anybody not named Sarkisian. Once he's gone, the highest paid OC in college football is making $1.8 million, and we aren't going after that guy.

Saban’s OC hires are usually outside of the box and that is what excites me about the next hire. Whoever it is will have to be a QB coach/developer.

If history is any guide, the hire will be a totally average NFL washout (Daboll, Sark) who will turn brilliant- that tends to happen with all 4 & 5 stars - or a total failure D1 head coach (Locks and Kiffin, hon mention Kyle flood).
Coach will ride them like rented mules and get excellence before they ride off for greener pastures in 2-3 years
