Why do I get the feeling that you don't like the guy because you like to think you're the smartest guy in the room and when someone else steps in the room with expertise in the same area, you become insecure and threatened? Your response to this guy is classic for someone like that.

We have some technique issues from linemen but we are getting better.

This is very apparent at ~8 minutes in the film guys video when he’s analyzing the counter run, with Derek Meadows motioning to line up similar to an H-Back and Will Sanders is pulling. Better technique by Sanders on that play would have had Hill running for a BIG gain, instead of 7 yards.

Film Guy does an awesome job of showing how the small things can have huge impacts on a play call’s success.

He picks out specific “narratives”. Some of them are popular/through the Press, like “Bama cannot run the ball” for example.

Then he will simply pick out a handful of clips taken out of context and beat in them like a dead horse, and when in reality, half the time he had NO CLUE what is actually happening.

For example, he will point out KR not “handling the rush well or “not being prepared/anticipating the pressure”, when in reality, Bama uses a 3 or 4 man slide opposite/away from the TE Box, which makes the RB responsible for the PSLB +1….then a RB will check release and allow the “+1” defender to come off the edge and “yes” that would surprise ANY QB when someone is there in your face that you expected to be picked up and is accounted for in the protection.

Its very easy to go back and find a handful of clips that fit whatever narrative is being spun in the headlines and try to “prove it” by showing fans who are truly trying to learn and be informed, but are being taken advantage of by a guy who is taking things out of context and using them to support his “case” and (try) to sound intelligent.

Then there’s the part where he says things like “this guy should have this guy”, as opposed to saying “the Playside Tackle (PST) is responsible for the “Big on Big” (BOB) side and allowed the 5-technique (tight aligned DE) to win by working up the field and converting speed to power…..that’s what he SHOULD be trying to do (provide true insights and analysis to help fans that actually have day jobs be able to learn what is taking place on the field).

Not at all. He simply misleads fans who (mostly) have day jobs and don’t have time to study a playbook or the vernacular that is used at higher levels and THAT is what he should be “teaching”. Instead, he is a glorified fan of football that goes through game clips (not sure how he gets his endzone/tight shots from but they are nice), and uses them to find a handful of plays that fit his narrative, but he takes them out of context that doesn’t fit what he is claiming to be happening on the field (unless it’s a dropped pass or poor effort that anyone can see for themselves).

He is either doing that intentionally, or he doesn’t understand what is actually happening…..either way he is spreading misinformation

I mean, a part of breaking things down for laymen is simplifying language. Using technical terminology just creates unnecessary noise for people like Rick the electrician and Pam the nurse. He's not trying to give clinics on coaching or film watch, he's trying to break things down in a way the average football fan can process and understand.

Now, context is important, so if he's failing in that department, then he should do better, but I really have no idea. I watch clips of his videos here and there, but I don't sit down and watch his full videos.

Man, Keelon missed a touchdown on that second pick. Oof

I’m not sure about that. If you watch in the video there was pressure coming and I don’t know if he’d have had time to wait for him to break open that deep.

Could’ve thrown it in anticipation and that would’ve been a MUCH better option than what he eventually did but Brooks should’ve acknowledged the pressure coming from that side on the play. Deep routes take time to develop and we didn’t give Keelon enough time on that side

That's not a narrative, that's a fact. At least for last year.

There was a play where he RCW was wide open for a walk in td, but Keelon through a slant to Brooks instead. It was a 1st down conversion on 3d down, so it wasn't a big deal, just something I saw. He'll start seeing the field better and better with more experience.

This is extremely nitpicky.

Christian Miller breaks down film as well, and does a great job (Miller’s Edge, I believe it’s called). He doesn’t always use that type of verbiage, because he’s just explaining simple points: “X play broke because Y player likely missed this assignment”, that type of thing.
