People love their opinions so much today that they are borderline violent when someone disagrees with them. Shoot, my career path would have me jumping off a cliff if I didn't learn to let people say what they want to say even if I disagree with them. Truth is, there's more "bend" in their opinions than their bravado lets on

As much as most of us love watching these films. The downside is with all the world now able to watch schematic break-downs with detailed narratives of Bama to find the weak spots to attack. On the upside it lets us know if we are improving and if the coaching is making any headway.

No I didn’t watch the one in the OP. I was referencing the 1-2 times I looked at it during last season

Lol. This isn't a downside. No disrespect to Brooks Austin but I assure you that opposing teams have Bama film much more thoroughly broken down by their own coaches and analysts on staff than anything he puts on youtube. Coaches have been using film to find weak spots for decades.

It shows. Your criticisms of him are dispelled in the video you responded to without watching

Basically...you look foolish right now

That’s fine.

I didn’t specifically point out anything regarding his breakdown of the UK game bc I did not watch it.

I stated that I watched a couple of his videos last year and his breakdowns consisted of whatever narrative the media was saying about Alabama (struggling to run the ball, RW drops, etc), and the clips he pulled to demonstrate the failures in the run game, were actually good combos from the PST/PSG, and Parker Brailsford blocking back on a 3-tech, and I thought that was both pretty lazy and amateurish to use those clips as your “example”, when the Line was actually doing what they were supposed to and a defender they didn’t have a “hat” for made the tackle or the “penetration” in the backfield was due to the drop step/45-degree angle step by the Center to block back on a wide 3-tech.

Why not show clips where they stayed on the Duo/double team TOO LONG and never came off and the PSLB was gifted an easy tackle, or them coming off TOO EARLY and gifting the Down-Tech (DT) an easy tackle?

Why not explain what Bama’s two “base runs” are and how they work? Then fans could know what to look for on their own when it’s happening in real time.

It’s not anything too complex that fans on this board couldn’t easily comprehend if you showed them a visual example from the tremendous endzone camera shot he has from the games.

Also, while I am not a fan of Grubb, and I wish we had a more traditional run game that was more versatile than running “Duo” 75% of the time, but still at the end of the day, you will NOT find a team that runs the ball really well without a very good Back (or a couple of really good RBs).

This year Bama FINALLY has a couple RBs that would have been on scholarship for CNS during the 2008-2022 era. It’s been awhile since that’s been the case.

I wish that was not the perception of what I was trying to convey in my OP, but I understand it’s an anonymous message board where unfamiliarity with an individual’s personality along with the absence of any “tone” to what a person posts, can easily make it sound angry/bitter/jealous/etc

- On 7/6/26 I had 18 “downvotes” for the following post:

“Coach Wommack has done a better job than anyone could have possibly predicted when hired.

Everyone was thoroughly convinced he was in over his head after the Vandy debacle in Year 1 and it certainly looked like it.

It took the guy a lifetime to get his big shot at Alabama, and despite the success he had as a leading proponent of a 4-2-5 that his own father had helped innovate decades ago, he was still willing and able to transition to an Odd Front (Under primarily) after only utilizing it on 8% of snaps at South Alabama and none at all while at Indiana.

Not only was he taking a major chance, he also did not have the body types for a 3-4 Under and a Shade-5-9. It’s not like he could just claim guys off waivers.
Keenan and Overton fit it extremely well but the plethora of 5-techs leftover from CNS (Renaud/Hill/Faga/Latham) and the Edge defenders (Keeley, Robinson, Russaw) were built to play a 5-tech/6/7/ and a 9 like Dallas Turner and Chris Braswell did the year prior.

So, for the 4-2-5 defense that had Bama 67th in the country in total D after the Vandy beatdown week 5, ended up allowing the fewest points in all of college football over the final 9 weeks of the season, which put them top10 nationally and the best Bama defense statistically since 2017, while also forcing the most turnovers in the conference.

He followed that up on year 2 by allowing the 2nd fewest yards in the Conference and Top10 nationally in Total Defense and the freest from a Bama D since that same Pruitt-led 2017 defense.

Now, entering year 3, he has the body types that can maximize the output of the defense as a whole.

For example, a 4-tech who can maintain the B-gap allows a wider split by the alley/Nickel defender compared to a 3-tech. It doesn’t sound like much but it allowed him to play Justin Hill as a 244lb “Big Nickel” vs 11 personnel and higher.

Strictly looking at stats or the “eyeball test” when comparing this DL to last year is very misleading and ill-informed.

The transfers CKW brought in on the DL are 100% the body types he has wanted and needed since he got here. He also has the speed at LB (converted Safety Woodson will wear the dot and call the defense) he has been lacking.

I honestly and truly believe this 2026 defense will rival ANY of CNS’s best defenses now that CKW has those pieces.”

This is a big part of your fricking problem on this board. You count downvotes on your 47-paragraph posts from two months ago thinking you’re an expert football analyst. “4-tech” my goddamn arse. Do you have a job? Jesus, dude.

I sincerely apologize.

I was attempting to provide an example of how someone can come across as sounding negative or derogatory on an anonymous message board due to the absence of any tone of voice and the lack of any body language that would otherwise be easy to interpret in a face-to-face conversation or with someone you know personally.

Not really sure why expressing my opinion that Bama upgrading the 4-tech spot along the DL (which they indisputably have) is cause for complaint though?

If it’s the “vernacular” then what do you want me to call a Defensive lineman if it’s not a DT but also not a DE? You make it sound like I’m trying to sound smart by using a term any 3rd/4th grade football coach teaches to kids.

Didn’t mean to upset you man.

Btw, Nehemiah McCary (5-star off-ball LB) committed to the coaches today.

If there’s anything that offended you in this post I apologize in advance.

Really big pickup!

Thanks man.
I really didn’t mean to bash the “Film Guy” to make sound as bad as I did.

He might’ve done a fantastic job with the UK video. He’s certainly charismatic and he has a good connection somewhere to be able to pull those endzone camera angles he uses, so that alone is probably worth a watch.

I use to do occasional breakdowns for Bone 5 years ago on BOL, but it was too time consuming then I did a handful for free for Tim in 2023.

I’m sure it does come off looking petty criticizing the Film dude, it just ticked me off when he was using clips of plays to demonstrate his points when it really wasn’t the OL’s fault (there were many that were that he could’ve used instead).

That was also when he first was getting popular, so I’m sure he’s probably improved.
