I knew this had to do with Nico whatever his last name is. They gave him $8 million.

Guilty. They should switch all of their conference wins in basketball to losses

If the NCAA wants to curb this stuff, then they need to move hard and fast on any school that violates it. Waiting a few years and slapping a school with a fine & recruiting restrictions isn’t going to move the needle.

If Alabama was the program in the middle of this story people would be demanding that we get the death penalty. This stuff is out of control.

I want to know if Tennessee is "staring down the barrel of a gun."

Nothing will happen.

Michigan was caught stealing signs in 2023 and they faced zero punishment (I don't consider suspending the coach for 12 hours a punishment).

Seriously, this is the problem for Tennessee. They are currently on probation for the violations that occurred under Jeremy Pruitt. The repeat violator deal could compound things.

What percentage of NIL deals in major college football involve actual market-based payments for use of the athlete's "name, image, and likeness"? Less than 10%?

Very few. It is pay for play. Out in the open. Ole Miss, Texas and Ohio State should be the crosshairs of the NCAA like Tennessee.

The NCAA has proven multiple times that they're toothless. They likely won't do anything at all. CFB has become a total shell of its former self.

No doubt. The sport that we all grew up watching and love is basically on life support at this point. It’s sad to watch.

Probably less than 1% when you consider there are 134 FBS teams with 85 scholarship players. That's over 11,000 FBS scholarship football players. It's almost entirely just stuff like Dr. Pepper or Heisman House commercials and licensing arrangements on apparel that are genuine efforts by neutral 3rd parties to enhance their revenue with the name, image, and likeness of a college athlete. Everything else is ultimately driven by pay for play considerations even if there are some hoops like making scheduled appearances and participating in autograph sessions the player has to jump through to keep it all legal.

To be fair, the NCAA doesn't move particularly quickly on major cases, and I'd think this would be considered a major case. It wouldn't surprise me to see Michigan have to vacate wins and the 2023 championship ... although I don't foresee that happening for another couple of years.

There's almost zero chance that happens. The NCAA is toothless.
