Some of you know me, most dont. I was talking to a very good TRUSTED friend about our DC, OC and O-Line execution. We talked a while, and got into recruiting. Out of the blue I just asked him if he had heard anything about LSUs coaching search, mainly I was wondering if it was possible if coach O would consider UA as a DL position coach and recruiting specialist.

He said it was possible, but way to early to speculate as everyone was very dialed in to finish the season and end up in Atlanta. Then He shocked me, with

"Clay, you will never guess what I just heard today about LSUs coaching search. Harsin, is very mad about the Covid Requirements at AU and sent word through his agent that he would be open to the LSU AD who placed value on personal choice, and not mandates."

No clue what to think. This guy is still very plugged in, not like me. I dont know what to think. I mean i know people are very opinionated about the vax, and are solidly in one camp or the other.

You guys are far more plugged in to the scene than I am, do you think its possible or is it just speculation? Has anyone else heard anything along these lines?

Sorry to bother everyone, i am just wondering if it could be true, as people who know me know that I hate UT and AU with a passion. I dont post much, and honestly just enjoy watching as a fan now, so i dont really know what to think.

Even if true, just because he wants LSU doesn't mean LSU wants him.

So does he get fired if he doesn’t take the shot? I don’t understand all of the mandates and federal stuff. I looked on the Auburn board so please don’t get into a van antivax debate like those crazies did.

That seems unlikely to me. At least in Alabama he has a supportive state government that would go to bat for him. LSU has an extreme left president and the state of Louisiana has a big gov Dem as governor. This would be an incredibly short-sighted move on his part, imo. Maybe going to a school in Florida would make more sense.

Pure fantasy, but the melt from all sides would be incredible.

I'd LOL if they hired Potato Gus, especially if his vaccine stance was a factor. They'd deserve it.

Of course O would consider, Saban wouldn't though.

I doubt Freddie Roach is going anywhere to open a spot.

That would be an utter falsehood. AU and UA are not doing mandates on their own. It’s because Biden has mandated them for federal contractors. All major universities including LSU fall under the same requirement.

This is pure nonsense, but they're certainly pretending it's true.

An Auburn University official affirmed Monday that the new executive order in Alabama out of Gov. Kay Ivey’s office will not affect the school’s plans to require employees to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption by Dec. 8.

quote:

When asked how Auburn can enforce a vaccine policy when state law prohibits such a policy, Auburn spokesman Preston Sparks responded with the following statement: “Federal law, including validly issued executive orders and agency regulations, supersedes and preempts conflicting state law. As a federal contractor, Auburn is subject to these new requirements, notwithstanding any conflicting Alabama law.”

Sounds like Ivey nor the state will prevent AU from requiring vaccination of its employees.

This was announced last Friday:

quote:

ALABAMA – Alabama’s four major universities will now require their employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19. On Friday, the University of Alabama System and Auburn University announced that all employees will be required to get the COVID-19 vaccine by Dec. 8, unless they have an approved medical, disability, or religious exemption.

The requirement applies to the UA System, which oversees the University of Alabama in Huntsville, University of Alabama in Birmingham, and the University of Alabama’s main campus in Tuscaloosa, as well as Auburn because both universities have federal contracts.

I saw AU alone has over 200 million in annual contracts. So makes sense financially.

Well, except for the fact that he did it. It will be challenged in court and may not stand but for you to say otherwise is ridiculous.

Unless, of course, you think this executive order is fake.

They’ve already announced that they will sue. Odds are the various states are deciding on the most favorable venue to ensure they get the TRO.

I’m pretty sure they’ll get one of those and delay the mandate until some future date.

If Auburn is too woke for Harsin, I seriously, seriously doubt LSU is the place for him

You are dealing with billions of DoD and DARPA contracts within the schools and statewide with EADS, AirBus, and other defense contractors. These companies and institutions will not jeopardize that.

The state can sue all they want but the universities said they will not or help the state to do it. They have stated they will follow the federal mandate.

Again I am not familiar with state agencies in AL so not sure how it works and exactly what this means. This is after Ivey issued her order yesterday.

quote:

However, Ivey’s executive order would not impact those plans announced by the University of Alabama System and Auburn University to require employees to be vaccinated for COVID-19 by Dec. 8. The universities were created by the Alabama Constitution and are under the management and control of a board of trustees.

Does this mean the Gov nor the state has direct control of the UA system?

Isn't LSU pretty tough about vaccine mandates? I keep seeing their fans bitch about it.

No. They're not federal contractors. I guess I should have been more clear about what I'm saying is nonsense.
