Have you ever taken a rotten piece of fruit and place it in a bowl of good fruit? Given a few days the good fruit doesn't turn the rotten fruit back to good. The one rotten one turns the entire bowl of good fruit rotten. The few bad apples have ruined an entire team.

JMO, but why doesn’t Saban/DeBoer gather up some of the alphas and captains from the recent past and have them come to a players meeting? The coaches step out of the room while people like Jonathan Allen, Rueben Foster, Dickerson, etc. explain to this team what “The Standard” is in no uncertain terms. And explain to them that this shite they are pulling will not be tolerated by the coaches or the former players because they aren’t only embarrassing themselves, but the university and the tradition that those guys helped maintain. If necessary, kick a few asses. Have a real “Come to Jesus” meeting or GTFO or they will help you GTFO!

Because its time to turn the page. Im glad those guys wore Crimson, but the new coach has to put his flavor on the program. Those guys are just fans like the rest of us now and should not be meddling. Ive come to accept its just gonna take time and patience

But that makes complete sense... It's basically the NFL now. NFL coaches aren't hard asses. Their names aren't above the players anymore. They players don't have to put up with any coach they don't want.

I said this in another thread and I am repeating it here.

This is the problem and people can flame me to cinders, I don’t care. Too many people in our fan base see football as a metaphor for life and a means of preserving their ideal culture and tradition and in particular the culture and tradition of this region, and see the role of coaches as “molding kids into men.”

The reality in 2024 is that this is a form of entertainment and the primary “actors” are all millionaires who have the freedom to pretty much take their talents elsewhere if they don’t like how a coach, who’s pretty much now been reduced to the role of a ringmaster, treats them.

Is what it is.

I don’t agree with this. Your average alumni that earned their degree from the university don’t look at themselves as just a fan and they shouldn’t. It’s no different going through boot camp for 13wks and becoming a marine even when you’re no longer active.

Either one makes you part of something special for the rest of your life, you’ll always have that degree and I will always be a marine.

So yeah, Especially the players that wrote their legacy at Bama and help win championships, their opinions should always carry more weight on certain matters, they earned that right

And where do you think those millions come from? The fans and boosters have more control than some people think. If I were a rich NIL donor, 8-4 with BAMA's roster ain't cutting

Ain’t going to dispute you there.

But like I said it is what it is.

You are right in that its a special fraternity of men...but there still needs to be boundaries. A new coach needs space to work without former players invoking "how things were done back then"

When CKD gets all his players in and his program rolling, then I think itd be more appropriate for former players to have more access.

It's headed to the Crossroads. The people that pay the bills aren't going to support the conduct of the current roster.

They spend big bucks to build the best facilities trying to pacify the recruits and no they have to buy the players as well.

That’s exactly right and it’s why I’m already getting letters. People are leaving and taking their donations with them.

I support that completely. No one should be pressured to spend their money on something when they arent seeing what they like.

Well that's incredibly short sighted of them. If you want to guarantee we slide back into the early 2000's that's one way to do it.

It’s all about return on investment. If you don’t feel you’re getting enjoyment out of your investment you will find something else to spend it on. I’m most disappointed in lack of discipline yet again. I’ve decided to spend my time on other things until they can straighten that out.

Another way of sliding back to the pre-saban times is folks sticking their head in the sand.
Transition is one thing, but a staff being paid mega $ not performing their jobs at the highest level is something else altogether.
