1. Southern Miss (34)
2. Clemson (18)
2. Miami (18)
4. Penn State (15)
5. Virginia Tech (13)

We've had some classic slobberknockers with the boys from Hattiesburg. Any specific memories from anyone? I've got 2.

#1 - 1995 #13 Alabama 24 - Southern Miss 20

This was my families first game with season tickets (we had just moved back down South from DC) and my first Alabama game since I really could remember anything. Legion Field, 108 degrees give or take. Burgdorf hit Toderick Malone on a 35 yard TD pass on 4th and 17 with about 30 seconds left.

Burgdorf to Malone for the win (with Mal Moore on color)

#2 - 2005 Alabama 30 - Southern Miss 21

10 years later young SOG was a junior at the University. The late kick led to a long day on the quad and at the fraternity house, and while young SOG was physically in attendance for the entire game, he was not mentally. He awoke the next morning to people talking about the greatest catch they'd ever seen, not having any idea what they were talking about.

Until a few weeks later against Florida, this was basically the highlight of Alabama football for a 3 year period. Barf.

Anybody in beside me that actually attended a Bama USM game when Ray Guy was their punter?

If so then you're old. I believe it was the 71 game at T-Town.

They used to have some damn good teams under Bower. It’s sad what’s happened to that program

It really is sad. They were a year in/year out upper tier SEC level defense.

When they came to town you knew you were gonna have a war on your hands.

That 82 game in Denny is the day (JMO) Coach Bryant made the call to hang up his spikes. USC beat us pretty good that day.

My grandpa said the 1990 game (the loss to Brett Favre) was the hottest game he ever went to. Also Stallings's first game

Bama gave that game away because they couldn't field a dam punt back to back in the 4th qtr.

People weren't sure Favre would play a single snap the entire season and he runs out of the tunnel ready to go

That USM team played:
@ Alabama (W 27-24)
@ Georgia (L 18-17)
@ Mississippi St (L 13-10)
@ Auburn (W 13-12)

I was pissed when they put Southern Miss back on the schedule.

Haven't we played them enough already? Can't they get someone else? Anyone?

I had the misfortune of attending the 2000 game with my father. Pretty sure it's the only time in my life I ever heard my dad swear.

I was just coming to post about that 2000 game.

I was watching it at a party in my hometown in Mississippi. Needless to say, I took a bunch of shite that night.

You aren’t a real Bama fan if you don’t remember that Prothro catch.

In 2000 when we fumbled the kickoff for the TD, I looked at my buddy and said "that's enough, let's go find a bar!"

what a shite-show that was

My first game as a student was a loss to USM in 1990.

Had to drive to legion field to see it.

Bret Favre was the QB.

I was a senior walk-on WR in 2000. I dressed for the USM game. We were preseason #3 that year, so I went into the season thinking I was going to get a lot of mop up PT in games like USM and Central Florida.

Little did I know. That was an ugly night.

I sat in the endzone for the 2001 game at Legion Field that was moved to Thursday night after the Iron Bowl because of 9/11. I think my skin was shriveled up for a week! Ha!

Can you imagine what that place would have been like if we'd lost to Auburn 27-10 or something as was expected the week before? Like 8,000 people.

But man, people were hopping after that Auburn game.
