Actually fixing the shitty format should be done NOw. Why wait until 2026? Adding 2 more teams doesn’t fix anything.

They just want to add 2 more so the ACC, Big-12, and MWC do not get a bye week.

What did it for me was #15 Arizona State getting jumped to the number 4 fricking seed and earning a bye for winning their shitty conference against a #16 ranked team.

No other major sport decides their champion in such a backwards and stupid way with no transparency, because the way they arrive at their decision would probably get them laughed out of the room if it was made public.

Hell, they’ll go to 16 teams in the name of “fairness” eventually (What a crock).

Just give us back the BCS and be done with it. This has been a disaster.

I think 14 is better than 12 but 6 would have been just right to me.
And I liked four

Men's CBB kind of does. March Madness is an objectively terrible way to determine who the best team in the country was that season, but it's also the most exciting postseason in sports for that same reason. And, to the NCAA's credit, they have been pretty transparent about how they make selections and determine seeding. You can look up NET any time you want for a rough idea of where things stand. It often looks completely different than the AP/Coaches Poll and they are relatively consistent with it. The CFP committee likely doesn't do anything of the sort, which as you said is the reason why they do such a poor job of explaining themselves.

Sport done turned into NASCAR. A thousand rules changes, wacky playoff requirements getting tweaked annually, teams finding loopholes to sneak in...watch, only a matter of time before a scenario sets up that Team A lays down fot Team B because it either helps them or helps their conference.

Glad I kind of faded away from the sport the last few years.

Tin foil hat [on]

At one point Saturday I thought Dabo might be letting his foot off the gas as to not get SMU kicked out.

I don’t think the current format is awful, just use common sense when determining the bracket.

1-4 BYE
5-8 Host
9-12 Travel

Seems really simple

Use the BCS to determine the top 12. No automatic qualifiers. And no committee made up of a bunch of emotional Nancy’s.

Nah, that game ended up playing out the way it did because Dabo thinks transfers are quitters and won't fill holes in his roster with them. They had 0 healthy scholarship RBs left and had to throw the ball even with a 3 score lead. They were having like 1 minute 3 and outs. If they actually had a run game in the second half they'd have won by 3 TDs. SMU's offense was fricking trash. Everything was a scramble drill. They just got so many chances that they inevitably capitalized on a few.

This. The BCS rankings are perfect...just take the top 12 teams. Period.

This "every conference has to have representation" BS needs to go.

If they're hoping for good numbers, they made some really bad selections.

The same Arizona State that beat the worst team in the SEC by a touchdown?

I'll say this. If the conferences were aligned as they were 15 years ago, I wouldn't mind the format. Yes, the conferences would still be wildly unbalanced, But college football was historically a regional game, so in a system where the conferences are regionally based, it makes sense to do as much as you can to make winning your conference matter. However, in this layout, where every conference besides the SEC is just a collage of completely unrelated teams from across the country, I don't see any reason why winning that random assortment should automatically carry some special weight.
