Not sure “fizzle out” is the right way to describe it. Maybe if we were losing in regionals every year, or even supers. But Murphy has a great track record of getting to the CWS and winning at least a game or two there. Coming in 5th place in a 64 team tournament is pretty damn good.

We definitely shouldn't be paying a fraction of what other programs pay, but I don't see this as a great argument for him. Would paying him more have gotten us more championships? Wouldn't that make our yearly fizzle worse?

So, in the last 10 years Bama has "fizzled" 9 times, and the program that has won the most, OU, has "fizzled" 7 times, UF has "fizzled" 8 of the last 10 years. What program isn't a great "fizzler" according to your definition?

Bama has finished in the top 3 five times in the last 11 years, has made the WCWS 11 times since the turn of the century and made the tournament every year since Murphy became the coach in 1999. Only 2 programs have been to the WCWS more than Bama since Murphy became the coach and only 5 teams have more NCs than Bama during that time. He's a great coach.

Murphy has been our coach for 20 years. During that time, we've won 1 national title and appeared in 2 title series. Here are teams that have won more than 1 national title in that time frame:

UCLA (4)
Oklahoma (4)
Arizona (3)
Arizona State (2)
Florida (2)

We have been tied for 7th or better 10 times, and I guess that's impressive. If you think getting into the top 10 is our ceiling, then fine. I think a team at our level should have played in more than 2 title series in the past 20 years.

Fizzle. lol. I stand by my first assessment.

Murphy is great at setting up greatness.

When it comes to actually getting over the hump, it's a coin toss.

Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't.

He's no Alabama Football, but Alabama Basketball would give their right foot to have the same program.

Not really. Even in 2012 he needed a timely rain delay.

Florida had our number for years.

LSU eliminated us back to back times in OKC.

I expect us to win a couple of games in OKC and the offense to let us down when we face Oklahoma.

Im expecting the same,
Oklahoma and UCLA have looked very good in games I watched this year. So maybe we play a few games, maybe we win it all, but next year I would hope we are seasoned and get back and make some noise.

We lose Hemphill and her bat, Dykes at catcher good bat ,great arm and Schroder, good outfielder. Power hitters and catcher would be a top priority in recruiting.
Edit- was just corrected Hemphill is a junior.-

THIS.

We've shored up pitching for the next 3 years, what little bats we had are getting ready to leave. Big recruiting year.

I'm not a Murphy fan, but he's done a very good job this season. I hope he can continue it for the upcoming seasons. I was scared that he was getting lazy and lackadaisical with things.

part of our problem was not a dominant SEC caliber pitcher until this year. Batting is better too

Your right on Hemphill being a junior. Glad I was wrong on that. So we are only replacing 2 usual starters Schroder and Dykes, And Hemphill catches.

last year we only had about 3 batting over 300. This year it is close to 6. So the BA of our starters is significantly better. I don't know how to find last years stats but I would assume our team ERA is much lower as well.

His vendetta/schtick is just weird. It’s almost like he had a daughter that Murphy didn’t recruit or something.
