Tua is definitely still growing and needs reps - but i'm not sure how much some of the reps in the past games are really helping. Sort of a law of diminishing returns type thing.
Sure all reps are good, but going against teams that just can't cover like we have seen, i feel like it could almost breed over-confidence to a degree. I guess maybe complacency would be a term - where you stop going through each step, start going through the motions more or treating it like it was an important snap with the game on the line.
So, I'm fine with limited reps like we have seen in the past three games but certainly imagine it will be different against strong defenses or with the game more in doubt. His reps in practice are probably way more beneficial than what we have seen in the second half the past few weeks and also come with a much smaller risk of injury.
I'd certainly want him to see lots and lots of reps against the better defenses we play regardless of the score.

Anybody remember in '04 when Shula left Croyle in a blowout game and he tore his ACL and was lost for the season?...shite happens.
And the game where we were stomping Florida 31-3 midway through the 4th quarter in '05 and the starters (including Croyle) were still in...and Tyrone Prothro had that grisly career ending injury? I remember saying to my son earlier in that series asking why the starters were still in the game...Prothro could've potentially had an NFL career...

Should have saved Tua until at least November. Start Jalen against LSU and MSU. If we can win without Tua do so. Then bring him in for AU, SECCG, and the playoffs. Only 4 games and RS him and give him another year in the program. Works out for all parties involved.

I guess all questions will be answered in our first tight game

Couldn’t he stay here with Enos all year and just not play in the games, and still work with Enos all year and get better? Why play in mop up duty all year and waste a whole season?
How much are the coaches going to invest in a guy sitting on the bench? I feel like probably not as much as a guy who is going to be in the game if Tua goes down.

Tua gets better reps against our defense in practice (without the risk of injury) than he would get with us up 30 points on a hapless opponent. Tua not getting enough reps is way down the list of issues here.
Plus we don't play a team with any chance of beating us for another six weeks. There is plenty of time for game reps.

would be very surprised to see Saban pull Hurts for Tua with the game on the line and in need of offense
Huh? I assume you typed that backwards or do you really feel that way?

He's basically saying he doesn't think we'll have any competitive games this year.

In my opinion, this is the best thing for Jalen. He gets credit for a high character move, unlike Nate Craig-Myers. He gets the opportunity to play with top talent and put together nice film for the NFL, and he still has next year to develop wherever he ends up.

Saban said he's not playing Tua until the second half, that way people will stay the whole game, aight.

I know by the time Hurts has come in, the game is well in hand, but to me it looks like Saban is willing to not put the best product on the field.
When your best product has given you a 35-7 lead by the middle of the second quarter, there's no need to risk injury by keeping him out there. Remember how many Alabama fans were bitching about the starters still being out on the field when Tyrone Prothro got hurt in 2005?
Jalen Hurts is a solid no. 2. And who knows? We may need him down the stretch.

Good, I hope he keeps saying stuff like this just to see all the bammers get the red face and start cussing and hollering.

I'm pretty sure it's more because he thinks we may need Hurts (hopefully not) at some point, rather than just to irritate fans.
And yes. I know you didn't say it's why Saban is doing this, but instead it's why you like it, which is kind of odd, but anyway.

I said this before the season and was ridiculed pretty good.
But it is what it is, you can’t please a lot of our fan base no matter what we do.

I can promise he will get more red in the face every halftime when the stands clear out.. we have seen it before, but talking to everyone in my section and the students.. it’s game over after halftime. Hurts means it’s tailgate time. That’s not a dig on playing time or Hurts.. it’s a dig on our boring arse schedule

I don't know why it is odd. Anybody with a brain has seen there is a #1 QB and a #2 QB based on the actual usage of the two players in the first 3 games.
If Saban saying something like this gets a person all huffy and puffy then they're pretty silly. And I will enjoy laughing at them.

So we should
(a) Keep games close to make people be interested more
or
(b) Keep Tua in and run up the score on people
I don't quite understand your proposal (nor do I care if Saban gets mad that people leave in the 4th quarter when we are up 55-0).

Read alittle more.. I said it’s not a dig on either. It’s because of our schedule. You said he will be get, I was pointing out he is going to get mad anyways..lol
