Didn't he start out as a WR and move to DB? I remember he had an interception late against Tennessee in 2010.

Yeah caught a bubble screen pass against “Thunder and Lightning” Clemson in 2008 for a couple yard gain and didn’t see the field again that season. I think he moved to DB in 2009

BJ just didn't have a position, he was an athlete playing QB at Vigor IIRC.

He wasn't a natural passcatcher or route runner, and a lot of athletes sink when you take the ball out of their hands and put them on defense.

I know he played it a little in HS, but I remember ArDarius Stewart absolutely hating playing DB in the AL/MS game practices. His words and body language were LOUD, he wanted to be a playmaker. He had some hiccups at Bama, worked through some drops and had to learn to run routes to become a playmaker.

I think had Scott had stuck it out, he would have found a role too.

I don’t doubt this at all and I agree with everything you said

That dude was our best recruiter. I think when he committed, he actively recruited several high-level guys that eventually came along with him.

I think he would have as well. Saban really wanted him to play in the secondary, like really, really wanted him at corner. He wanted to be a WR and couldn't break through. By the time he made the move back to defense, Saban had recruited a killer secondary and he was too far behind to see the field. He ended up transferring to South Alabama to finish out his career. Ended up at safety as well, just like Saban had wanted. I wonder what would have happened to his career had he made the move to the secondary and committed to it. He'd probably have recently wrapped up an NFL career.

Auburn “insiders” are so predictable

They believe what they desperately want to believe, and then when they don’t get a guy it’s always the same exact line. “Things changed last night”

BJ Scott was probably the biggest recruit for Saban in that first class. He might as well have been our recruiting coordinator. And he was highly rated, so all the recruits respected him.

BJ Scott had the best highlight reel not belonging to Noel Devine.

It was right up there with Alonzo Lawrence.

OG status... confirmed.

I’m always leery of recruits labeled as “athletes”. Many never find a comfortable position. I think Kristian Storey (portaled out) and Emanuel Henderson are in that boat.

Emmanuel Henderson is a WR. He was recruited as a WR. Has been a WR since he got here and has not tried to change position. He will be a WR this year. WR is a natural position for him. The guy was hurt most of last season, so for some reason half the people on this board thinks that means he's an athlete that can't find a position.

Interesting seeing as he was the #1 rated RB per Wiltfong at 24/7 in high school. Seems to fit the “athlete” model.

SI also listed him as one of “the top athletes and RB”, but I’m sure that you are correct.

He was initially recruited as a running back.

Speaking of auburn insiders, a gracious post from their board:

quote:

If the Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree we may have dodged a bullet. There is a lot of immaturity in RW based off his recruitment process and behavior.

They are hella salty and now RW isn't good enough to be on their team.

Oh and to you aubies watching our board,

Before Emmanuel Henderson arrived on Campus, Saban had been talking to him about being a WR because of his slight build. Emmanuel said he would play whatever position Saban and the team needed him to play. Saban thought WR was his best spot to contribute and maybe advance. He has been a WR since he got on campus but had to learn to play the position...then he got hurt.

He is one of the two fastes WR's on the team. This is the year he needs to step up and he finally has a coach that can teach him rather than him just watching and figuring it out.

Maybe Wiltfong should have told Saban this, because Saban wanted him to be a WR. Have you let the coaching staff know they need to check with recruiting services to see what roles the players should be in?

Maybe Saban didn't take advantage of that $1 deal on3 ran last year. Could have cleared up this whole issue.

Henderson is a natural athlete. He is so smooth and looks the part. Hopefully the staff can put him and others in the best position to help the team.

Chadarius Townsend was another “athlete” that never found a position.

I’m still salty we couldn’t find a place for Alvin kamara to play in some capacity.
