It's convenient how people make excuses for a guy not living up to the hype. I'm glad he stuck it out but the constant harping on hurts gets old and it's excusing the drops , fumbles, and poor effort that foster showed alot.

IF what you are saying was true I have no doubt Saban would've washed his hands of Robert Foster long ago.

He looked okay. Couldn't get on the field when Sims was our QB, even with subpar depth in 2014.

He looked good against Wisconsin with Coker as QB.

He had injuries and bad luck at times too...But he had alot of drops. He was probably good off the field. Geno Smith had multiple DUIs but wasnt shown the door.

His best game in a Bama uniform, no doubt.

I was a Hurts apologist for a long time. It was amazing and sad to see that Sims and Foster had hands as soon as Tua got in the game. They both seem to lack the ability to adjust to Hurts inaccurate passes.

Robert Foster killed the gauntlet. He held the line, no drops, no double catches. He was silky smooth.

Robert's official fastest 40 is 4.41. Second fastest WR time.

Robert Foster has an attitude problem yet he graduated too. Something isn't adding up.

He will probably get drafted based on that. Good for him.

Agreed, but there is alot of revisionist history in this thread. Rob could never get it together on the field for whatever reason. He was here like 5 yrs so blaming Jalen as his biggest issue is bogus.

Remember his catch late in the iron bowl? Stuff like that is what hurt him over the years, given the extreme talent at the position. I am glad he stayed the course though and hope he gets his payday.

Robert was initially behind Amari, Robert redshirted a year, got hurt one year, and his last two years he was playing with a junior high QB. If there's any revisionist history it's that Jalen Hurts was/is a halfway competent QB. I like Jalen and I say this with all due respect Nick Saban would never settle for someone as deficient at the QB position at any other position on the field. It's a testament to the talent at Bama that we played in two national championships with Jalen as the starting QB.

There has been debate about Foster on this board since he got on campus. Some people, for whatever reason, have always given him the benefit of the doubt regarding him not living up to hype. Yall can blame Jalen all you want, but you would also have to blame every other QB he couldn't produce with(besides that one Wisconsin game with Coker.)

I hope the best for the guy. I hope he tears it up in the NFL, but his problems at Bama didn't have that much to do with Jalen IMO.

Exactly. I never understood the folks that thought he was good after seeing his freshman season let alone the first few games last year. I always boasted that Bama fans knew the sport like no other but only someone with a low football IQ could watch the kid and say he was a good quarterback.

In 2016 we fielded the greatest defensive football team ever to play the sport and those guys had to leave the field of the championship game with their heads down after dominating Clemson for three quarters because our running back couldn't gain a first down with his arm to save his life. It may not be right and I am sure it isn't but I have had a problem with Hurts since then and it only got worse last year after it was obvious he had gotten even worse.

If I remember correctly the Wisconsin game is also the game Robert's collarbone was shattered. If I'm correct Robert got to play one game, his best game at Bama, with Coker plus two full seasons with Hurts. And, we know Jalen Hurts is not a QB and has no business playing the position.

Jalen was always a project QB who Lane thought he could mold into being a dual threat QB. Lane was always intrigued by Jalen's running ability but most importantly his big arm. But, a big arm with no touch on the ball, a slow delivery, an inability to quickly read defenses, and no feel for short passes renders such a QB as useless as a bo-hog with tits. I think Blake Barnett really jumped the gun because he would've got to play again had he stayed.

The thing was he had the physical tools to be elite as frick. Just didn't have it between the ears. Kiffin worked a minor miracle with him in 2016. What absolutely drove me crazy last year was that even after the staff allowed him to just make one read he still would not throw it unless the receiver had 5 to 8 yards on the DB. Not many picks but not many attempts either. Glad it is over.

They had the lead with two minutes left. The greatest defense ever makes that hold up.

Most of the blame still goes to the offense not the defense

Actually, Rob was injured in the Ole Miss game (3rd game of the season) opening the door for Ridley to take over as WR1. Rob had a couple of mental breakdowns against MTSU (game 2) but we all know that Ole Miss game was a cluster.

Again, you can blame Jalen for this past season (Rob's 5th on campus) but 2016 was dominated by ArDarius and Calvin (Rob was barely on the field), plus Kiffin didnt have much love for Rob anyway. "Dumb players make dumb plays" -Lane Kiffin
