Seeing Ridley's combine numbers and the fact that he's smaller and not as physical as previous Bama great WRs, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't go as early as some here expect.

That physicality may also be a weakness on the mental side. He's shown frustrations with his team mates on/off the field and also against physical dbs.

Certainly doesn't help that a couple of the guys in contention for wr1 absolutely blew it out of the water (Sutton and DJ Moore). I'm thinking Ridley still goes first round but any outstanding success from a guy with that physical profile would be almost unprecedented.

What was unimpressive about Ridley? He ran 4.43

A shitty broad jump isn't gonna change anything

In 2016 we fielded the greatest defensive football team ever to play the sport

They were a great defense but by no means the best. I could list out of bunch of things over the course of the season but it would be a waste of time.

Last year all we had was Jalen and he did his best with a lot of limitations. This year we had someone who was easily a better passer just a bit of a gun slinger so didn't earn the trust of the coach right out of the gate. I personally thought Tua should have taken over the Iron Bowl but history is history.

We can continue to pile drive Jalen into the ground or just accept he did what he could last year and in combination with an awful offense coordinator in the NC Game, lack of stopping the 50/50, bad penalties at bad times, and lack of first downs we lost to a once in a century player in Watson. I'm ok with that.

The fact we continue over and over again to slaughter Jalen is getting old. He is a member of the team, he works hard, and doesn't run his mouth. Tua should be the QB at season start but, that doesn't take away from the fact Saban will use a QB competition to the fullest.

I am hopeful #2 will stick with Bama for the 2018 season. You need a solid backup QB (yes that is selfish). JMO but I doubt if #2 has really made up his mind what his future plans will be if he is the backup at TitleTown.

Dude, no offense but we don't need Hurts as backup quarterback. Tua goes down and our offense is back where it was. Killing average teams with the running game and shitting the bed against good ones. I would prefer a backup quarterback and not a backup athlete that knows how to take snaps. Hurts shouldn't even switch positions because he won't be good enough to win a job over a blue chip guy that already knows the position. He should be on the phone with Paul Johnson or a smaller school that runs an option offense. He could be an All-American at Georgia Tech.

Hand did pretty well today, especially if as Mayock says he projects inside.

Nope. Saving it for pro day. Kinda weird though. Considering he said he'd do everything. Guess someone talked him out of it

Wtf are you talking about? Dude will go in the top 15 picks. When did he have trouble against any Db? He was open constantly ever game. Worst case scenario for Ridley is an elite slot WR.

He is very much a needed part of our team. He did however limit the ability for our WRs to produce and there is nothing wrong with acknowledging that. The fact that some on this board assume he can't improve as a passer is telling of how knowledgeable(or lack there of) there are. Hurts is elite at what he does well. I was hoping for a big jump in his accuracy in year 2(especially the deep ball) and it didn't happen. There is nothing to say it can't happen this year. He doesn't have to be a great passer overall. What he really needs is to work on the timing of his deep ball. If he could become an accurate 25+ yard passer combined with his athleticism he could be the most dangerous qb in the sport. Cam wasn't a great passer in college but he could connect on the deep passes so teams couldn't load the box against him.

I love Jalen for the kind of person and teammate he is, but he's improved very little in two years as the starting QB. So, I'm not very optimitic about his propects of improving significantly. Maybe Enos can work wonders with him. We'll see. So, I'm glad we've got Gardner Minshew coming on board. He's actually pretty good at reading the field and making the the right throw quickly and accurately. I won't be shocked at all if he ends up being the #1 backup QB for the 2018 season.

Broad jump and vertical jump correlate strongly to short area quickness which is more important than running in a straight line for 40 yards. Taking into account his size he was one of the worst performers at wr.

His 3 cone drill was good though and he did always appear more smooth than explosive.

I guess we will see where he goes. I just don't expect Amari Cooper success from him. Non of his shuffle times or leaping ability jumped off the board. He's also not a physical WR.

You said he had trouble against stronger DBs. Please enlighten us all. Tell us when that happened?

No sources or sites. Just what I remember talking about on here and while watching the games. I actually said he's shown frustration against physical dbs.

I'm not going back to watch game film so if your opinion differs then that's fine.

Ridley mainly showed frustration when Jalen would throw bad passes to him. Ridley is more of a pouter than what's ideal, but he had reason to be Upset

Right, I guess him getting sent to the locker room during a scrimage for fighting with the defense was Jalens fault too?

I just think he drops some in a class that is already weak at the top. He's older than his comp and posted below avg numbers in burst and explosiveness while weighing 20-40lbs less.
