I figured this was Pruitt and Fulmer butting heads, but with Fulmer retiring, it seems that UT decided to allow Fulmer the easy out. Walk away by choice and we won't tarnish your reputation.

I wonder how much of this whole thing was Pruitt and how much was Phil and who turned them in.

I also hope UT goes Jeff Fischer. I think he would be able to build a good program that would compete with UF and UGA. I don't like UT, but do respect Fischer, and he said he wants the spot.

for cause means NS wont be able to touch him even if he wanted him.

unless the NCAA finds issues with him as it pertains to violations etc.

Not necessarily. UT fired him based on an internal investigation. Their "cause" doesn't apply to anyone else. If the NCAA comes down with something that is a different story.

UT is treading on thin ice of potentially getting themselves hit with NCAA sanctions.

Depends on the upcoming lawsuit and what the NCAA finds. I’m not going to blindly trust the Tennessee administration.

Oh I want them to hire Jeff Fisher, but we have very different reasons and different beliefs on what he would do with the program .

Worst case scenario Pruitt replaces Charlie Strong as the main defensive analyst and just spends all day and night breaking down opponents and drawing up blitzes for Pete to call.

Jeff Fisher is about as charismatic as a bag of potting soil, hasn't coached anywhere in 4 years, and has literally never been employed by a college program in his entire career. If they make that hire they're fricking doomed.

I doubt Jeremy is smart enough to do that though.

Reporter eating asparagus.

Pruitt: What is that?

Reporter: Asparagus.

Pruitt: never heard of it.

Correct. And I bet this thing (for cause/his buyout) is tied up in court for a while. And we know the NCAA isn't fast at punishing coaches.

For those like myself who attended UA in the early to mid 2000s I never dreamt that we would ever see the Tennessee program in such disarray but here we are. We've beaten them 14 straight and look to keep it going next year. This is heaven. I hope that Fulmer never sees another Tennessee win over Alabama in his life.

I did read where Pruitt and the whole staff basically went to visit Henry T out in California. I wonder if he transfers now.

Same - I still can't believe it. And I will never stop enjoying it.

So according to the Knox News:

quote:

Pruitt's contract includes more than 30 fire-for-cause provisions. Among them, he can be fired for cause if he engaged in conduct likely to result in an NCAA finding of a Level I or Level II rules violation, or if someone who reports to Pruitt engaged in conduct that constitutes a Level I or II violation or is likely to result in such a violation and the university determines Pruitt was negligent in his oversight or lacked reasonable preventative compliance measures.

Additionally, he can be fired for cause for a failure to promote and maintain an atmosphere of compliance or a failure to monitor employees who report to him.

LINK

I'm pretty sure if their "cause" for firing him was a Level II violation, or because someone under him committed a violation, then I very seriously doubt that the NCAA will hit him with a show cause. I'm actually surprised he actually agreed to that kind of language in his contract.

Pruitt will be at Alabama within the week, I don't think there is any doubt about that.

The question mark will be whether he's an analyst or an on field coach. My guess would be he's an analyst for 2021. But I'd be shocked if he wasn't in the building every day wearing Crimson.
