There’s also rumors Golding was shopped around this past off season and there were no takers so Saban let him stay. That should be Golding’s problem now.

Where do these rumors come from? There were multiple reports that Sark tried to lure Golding to Texas. And Golding got a raise and extension (at least one report said that Saban matched Texas's offer to keep him at Bama); there were also reports that LSU wanted Golding as well. Why would Saban give him a raise and an extension just to "let him stay" if there were no takers?

I didn't read all this thread but if Saban wanted to make a change at DC (please) but didn't want to fire Golding, he could be reassigned, even if it's to the support staff. And yes, I realize support staff doesn't generally make a co-ordinator's salary, but I'll chip in what I can.

Your first two links cite the same source...Bobby Burton of Inside Texas. And he never said Sark actually tried to "lure" Sark away.

"Bobby Burton of Inside Texas reports that Golding is a “prime candidate” for the Texas football job."

"Bobby Burton of InsideTexas.com has reportedly linked Golding to Texas as a prime candidate for the role."

Merely being a "prime candidate" doesn't at all necessarily mean he was Sark's #1 choice.

Plus, it was only one source at Texas. Who knows if Bobby Burton...whoever he is...has any inside connections at all?

Then why give Golding the raise and the extension till 2024 if Saban wants to get rid of him? Saban usually looks for soft landings for the assistants he wants to let go, not give them raises and contract extensions...

And what about my third link? It didn't mention Bobby Burton, it mentioned Alabama insiders saying that Bama matched the Texas offer. It's not proof but that means there was more than one source stating it. And seeing as Sark took other Bama assistants with him, it's not a stretch to say that he was interested in Golding as well...

I have to be honest, I mainly lurk this board; and I don't think I have posted in several years. I have been looking all week for that "after loss come to Jesus meeting" post from Boz and haven't seen it yet. I am not sure if it eases the pain, or creates excitement...but now I am concerned. It has been said many times this team doesn't have the "dogs"; but at this point a lot of these kids seem to almost be passive in results from last week. That is just based on interviews and stuff I have seen throughout the week. Is this cause for concern or reading too much in to a bunch of 21 year old kids temperaments?

What about Will Anderson's interview came across to you as passive?

No, but I wouldn't expect it to. He is one that we established as the very few dogs on this team. I did however watch DJ Dale, stand up there big as a damn house behind that podium and speak as passively as he plays. It just seems like it didn't light a fire as it has in years past. Jonathan Allen would have stood up there pissed off. Dale has been around long enough to be that guy. My main point is their didn't seem to be that same come to Jesus meeting. They even asked 31 if there was a team meeting and he shook his head no.

This defense unfortunately has taken on the personality of their DC.

Pretty much what I’ve heard is scorched earth, accountability, how do you want to end this season, it can end anytime if we lose etc.

I’ve heard the cryo chamber has been getting a workout.

One of my newer sauces is one of the Rbs, said about half of the team felt like AM wouldn’t be as tough as they were. Said it was a wake up call for everyone even some of the coaches.

I think we all agree that Boz has great info, sentiment seems to be until they can do this on a weekly basis it’s all just chatter.

I agree 100% but the guy was saying he was concerned because no info was out about the team having a "coming to jesus" meeting but the info was literally in this same thread

Golding wasn't shopped whatsoever and half this board is forgetting the defensive performance in the Ohio State game.

If anything, Golding was coming off a high mark last year

I get that practice was scorched earth, and all that…but that seems like more of our coach. I was hoping that maybe some players were stepping up and taking control. Similar to the ones that we’ve had in the past from guys like J. Allen. I wouldn’t expect less than scorched earth from Saban. I guess I should’ve done a better job at asking my question.

Good to hear. Sorry if already posted but said players were crying/ upset also . Maybe they play with a chip the rest of the year . Hope so

Friend, if that is what you are looking for, I suggest not looking too hard and don’t get your hopes up.

There is not a soul in this program, except for Saban himself, that resembles anything close to Jon Allen. The Lord doesn’t make too many people like Allen, especially in this day and age. The guy has ridiculous physical talent, and an even more impressive work ethic. As a 19-20 year old, he was mature beyond his years - very few have come through TTown that rival his intensity.

I never said Saban wanted to get rid of him.

All I said was that your sources...which was actually only one source...never said that Sark tried to lure him to Texas. The source never said what you said he did.

Dude, the first two links mentioned the same source, a Texas insider…my third link used a different source (or sources) saying and I quote:

”Over the last week, claims surfaced LSU was interested in Golding. Quickly following that news were widespread reports Steve Sarkisian was pushing hard to bring Golding to Austin. Alabama football insiders stated Nick Saban decided to match the raise offered to Golding by the Longhorns.”

LINK

More than one source mentioned that Sarkisian was trying to hire Golding; hell, this one even mentions that LSU was interested as well. My original post was in answer to another poster that mentioned rumors that “Golding was shopped around this past off season and there were no takers so Saban let him stay.” There were multiple reports that this was not the case…
