Yes. ND schedules smart. A few mid ACC/B10 teams. They don't touch SEC teams.
Simple. Repeat.

Losing to OU screwed us. That's on the coaches for not having the team ready to go.

You're missing the point. Yes we shite the bed against OU, but that doesn't mean the system isn't broken.

I hate when idiots try to derail a legitimate thread with the very first response.

It's as if they can't process more than one concept at a time. It's astonishing really.

They react like jocks. The problem with that is “sports people” aren’t driving this car anymore.

So what you're saying is Bama should go independent and schedule a bunch of nobodies. Boom playoffs guaranteed. What dumbass thought.

It's not even they act like jocks. They act like children when you're explaining something to them and they keep asking "But why?" no matter what you say.

We are all discovering just how stupid the format is. I saw online where someone still does the BCS system, which takes into affect computer, computers, etc..

Guess what?

Using that quantitative data, Alabama is in.

Basically, this is a throwaway year. It’s a cluster.

A few mid ACC

They play 5 ACC games in football every year. Not sure how that rotates, but it seems favorable to Notre Dame.

Having Ohio State and Tennessee play a play in game while giving Boise and Arizona State a bye is the height of stupidity.

Honestly, if we had beaten Vanderbilt and Oklahoma and lost to Georgia and LSU and finished 9-3, we still would've been left out, and they would have been saying we didn't have quality wins. And that's unfortunate to a degree when you consider SMU's schedule.

However, Vanderbilt is not good. Oklahoma is not good. Go look at the teams those two beat:

Virginia Tech
Alcorn State
Kentucky
Ball State
Auburn
Temple
Houston
Maine
Tulane

Outside of us, those teams were terrible. Our players and coaches weren't prepared for those two weeks, and ultimately that's why our season ends early.

Vandy nearly beat Texas, even after Texas knew they were dangerous. And it wasn't a trap game for Texas, it was an elimination game after the Georgia loss.

Actually we just understand the new rules of the road. You can't have "bad" losses. That was made clear. Wins are irrelevant other than that they exist. Judgment is made on losses. Both in quality and number.

Which means Army should have been in given the fact that their only loss was to ND.

That doesn't mean they are good. We played like shite against a team we should have beaten.

SMU played like shite against worse teams and got a OT or narrow victories and you guys ignore that and continue this media bullshite that expects Alabama and SEC teams to do more than others to get the same result

Yup. I'm not broken up about us being left out because we had control of our own destiny and pissed it away, but this playoff format is so obviously fricked even without taking us into account. Penn State arguably has the easiest path to a title of anyone even though they aren't even a top 4 seed and went 0-2 on the serious portion of their schedule. Clemson, who also beat no one of consequence and lost to both SEC opponents on their schedule, gets in because the ACC was complete arse. Arizona State gets a bye despite not being a top 12 team. People are so overjoyed to see us get left out that they're blind to how ridiculous all of this shite is. The ACC and Big 12 are not serious football leagues, but they represent 25% of the field. Indiana and SMU have combined to play like 5 bowl eligible opponents and have lost most of those games. It speaks to just how much everyone fricking hates Alabama that so many people are acting like they're OK with this.

At first I thought it was dumb to talk about easing up on the non conference schedule since the 3 9-3 SEC teams on the bubble all lost to other SEC teams but the larger point is that the committee showed there is zero benefit to playing a good team. None. If you lose, it's a loss and that'll ding you, but if you win, well, it is treated exactly as the same as if you beat a cupcake. South Carolina is playing Virginia Tech next year but they are better off playing Virginia Military Institute.

Sure Bama only lost to SEC teams, but why not add some extra off weeks?
