150% agree. I was so bored when we did that show when we played at Ole Miss I was reading the ribbon boards

I have never played an instrument and certainly have never been in a band, so I'm certainly no expert.

But I think the MDB is a pretty damn good band.

I think it's pretty weak we still play Basketcase before the 4th quarter. I don't know if it's so much the band as it is the lame song selection/cheers. I guess they're one in the same though.

no.... just no. Basketcase is our 4th Quarter song

That was the country show, and while it may not be the greatest show you will ever see, it is still far superior to a band playing %40 of the time while %60 is corny voice over set to the wiz of oz and making childish jokes about rival coaches. UT maybe moved 7 to 8 times that whole show.

And to say that the band is stuck in the 1920's is ridiculous. If you actually pay attention to just about any band across the country, you will hear them play their traditional cheers mixed in with a selection of more modern songs. This is the same with the MDB. One of my favorite moments from the 21-0 LSU game game was blasting All of the Lights at the end. There is also this; Right above it, and I've graduated, but I have noticed us playing Radioactive this season.

Why do we brag so much on our football tradition but the traditional music the accompanies the team is stale and needs to be done away with? I guess we should change those old jersey styles too.

While I was marching, I remember us consistently receiving praise on social media from UA coaches from other sports. Carson Tinker and other players were also big fans of the band. They would give us shout-outs on Twitter all the time about how good we were.

Plus, I would say that the MDB has some of the best defensive song selections. Work Song accompanied by YOOOUUUU!!!>>>>>>all other defense tunes

I was so upset when the Les Mis movie came out and suddenly every one was saying "OMG the MDB is playing the song from the movie...that's so cool!" when we have been playing that cheer for years

Horrible, horrible show.

I was at UA from 2008-2012 and there were only a couple of shows I could tolerate while I was there. The band itself is not half bad. But you would think with all of those members they could up the volume just a little bit. Half the stadium is left out of the halftime show due to how soft they play.

UT tore our band a new one on the field that night.

This struck me as funny.

The first time I heard the Les Mis soundtrack was around about the time the movie was coming out last Christmas. When the opening theme came on, light bulbs and alarms went on and off in my head. I was like, "Oh....! That's where that 4th Down anthem came from!"

Hell yeah, I was in the section a tunnel over from the band on the front row, pretty much right by you guys. The team and the MDB killed it that night. What an awesome memory/experience.

I have been in band in 3 years and have seen UT march the Same. Exact.Show. I hope they have it mastered after 20+ years.

It's not so much how they marched that night as it was how the MDB marched that night. The formations were horrible and crooked. When they marched on and off the field they weren't even in a straight line.

That was my least favorite thing in the MDB. Even the pregame show, where it is a giant block with even 8-5 steps would get screwed up no matter how long we worked on it. It's not hard to keep a straight line, yet some of these people obviously can't do it.

Personally I have nothing against it. But when 95% of the stadium doesn't respond to it it might be time to freshen up the 4th quarter intro.

The entire student section responds to it. The vast majority of the stadium doesn't respond to much of anything anyway. They are one of the most flaccid crowds in all of college football.

I'm glad the student section responds to basketcase. We do try to play music for y'alls benefit and not to hear our selves play.

In conclusion, wether you realize it or not, the MDB is a quality band that Bama fans should be proud of.

I'm just apathetic at this point. Years of going to games where the band's selections are incomprehensible and played toward to the other set of stands

... I just gave up trying to enjoy the band.

I hear FSU or LSU fans talking about how they love their bands and I wonder what they do differently.

I like that we play the Alma Mater at the ends of games now although I wish students would stay for it rather than leaving right after Rammer Jammer.

Truth be told I wouldn't know a good marching band if I saw one.

Ohio state has had some good shows this year I thought.

This. The halftime shows are fine and all, but I want the band to be as loud as possible.

LSU's band almost seems like they are yelling at you when they play. I don't know if it is because of the instruments that make up their band or if they just blow harder. Make it louder.

t this point, I'd rather hear more piped in music than our band.

Never! Get the band better. Piped in music should be outlawed.
