Last Chance U has given me the impression that if Gilbert is unable to maintain academic eligibility at an SEC program he will be absolutely fricked at a JuCo that has like a fraction of a percent of the academic support resources for athletes.

I think his situation is not completing his work after he left campus.

Yeah, it sounds like he thought he could opt out of the academics side too.

Building a border-wall around Tennessee. Brick by brick. SEC fricked!

ETA: Tennessee owes Kevin Steele severance pay after firing

ETA: LINK (SEC Rant post)
quote:

Pruitt's violations seem to center on failure to monitor 2 on the field staffers and 6 off the field support personnel that were involved in level I and level II recruiting violations for over a year involving multiple recruits and football student athletes. The NCAA has 6 cases infront of ours and given how long it has taken with those I suspect that the actions taken by Tennessee and the level of cooperation by the university will greatly mitigate the penalty phase. It looks like the 2 assistants will likely get 5-10 year show cause, A 2 year post season ban dating to 2020, a reduction in on campus recruiting and evaluation days, a reduction of 9-12 scholarships over 3-4 years, and the Vandy game from 2020 is forfeited for knowingly playing an ineligible player (Grey). The players involved likely cooperated and will make minor restitution and sit 1-3 games. The last part likely affects Oklahoma the most.

Kaden Martin commits to play baseball at Miami (247-Miami)
quote:

Gino DiMare and Miami's baseball team landed a commitment from Knoxville (TN) Catholic outfielder Kaden Martin on Wednesday. Martin, who is the son of former NFL quarterback Tee Martin, is considered a high-level baseball prospect by Perfect Game and one that could be selected early on in the upcoming MLB Draft.

While Martin might be talented with the bat his his hands, the left hander also happens to be a good at throwing the football and is considered the nation's No. 7-ranked dual-threat quarterback prospect in the class of 2022 according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Martin told 247Sports' Andrew Ivins earlier this week that he wants to play both sports in college, but sources in Coral Gables have indicated that Martin will focus primarily on baseball whenever he arrives on campus as the football staff continues to recruit other 2022 quarterbacks like Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes four-star Jacurri Brown...

LSU suspends two assistant athletic directors (247Sports)
quote:

On Friday morning, LSU announced that assistant AD Verge Ausberry will be suspended for 30 days and assistant AD Miriam Segar will be suspended for 21 days. The announcement comes as LSU released an extensive report by the firm Husch Blackwell that revealed findings from an independent investigation of how LSU handled allegations of sexual and domestic assault in years past.

They are being suspended based on Husch Blackwell's findings which stated both have failed to properly handle reports of sexual misconduct and domestic violence among student-athletes. Ausberry and Segar will be required to undergo training in regard to how to deal with domestic and sexual violence.

The investigation also found that LSU's Title IX office, which is meant to handle cases of sexual assault and domestic violence, has been under-resourced and understaffed for years.

Yesterday, accusations emerged that former football coach Les Miles texted various female students, took them to his condo alone, made them feel uncomfortable and, on at least one occasion, kissed a student. The investigation did not find that Miles had sexual relationships with any of the women, but did define the behavior as “inappropriate,” according to USA Today.

The report states that Miles strongly denies kissing the woman mentioned in the investigation. According to USA Today, Miles believes he did, “nothing wrong and was simply mentoring young women at the university.” Furthermore, Miles is also accused by athletic department staff of saying that female student workers helped pursue top recruits to choose LSU, “needed to be attractive, blonde and fit,” according to USA Today.

USA Today reports that LSU issued Miles a letter of reprimand and required him to sign forms that said he read and understood the school’s policies. He was ordered to stop hiring co-eds as babysitters, could no longer be alone with them and was forced to attend eight, one-hour sessions with an attorney, paid for himself, according to the report.

The news of Miles’ specific accusations comes just hours after it was reported that Miles had ended his legal bid to prevent the public release of the 2013 investigation that cited these accusations. Miles’ attorney explained the decision in a statement.

“Quite simply, Mr. Miles cannot defend himself against the inaccurate and unfair media attention that this matter has received during the past week without citing the report’s findings and conclusions,” wrote his attorney, Peter Ginsberg.

LSU still has objections to the release of the records, which must be resolved by the court.

His wife knew this was going on. No way she lets him buy a condo near campus when his mansion was less than 15 minutes away otherwise.

And yet again there's some murkiness over when and how LSU handled allegations of sexual misconduct, this time dating back to Miles' tenure there.

Mighty interesting. One might almost say a pattern is developing down on da bayou.
