Gus is perfect for a place like UCF. He should do well there, and I hope he does.

He may be burned out like Charlie Strong, but I thought he seemed pretty energetic in the press conference.

I think that’s a great hire. Most mid majors get a coordinator or even a position coach. They’re getting a coach that was in a national title not that long ago.

The 10 college football teams with the most ranked wins since 2010 (247Sports)
quote:

10. OKLAHOMA STATE - 25
8. AUBURN TIGERS - 27
8. GEORGIA BULLDOGS - 27
7. OREGON DUCKS - 28
6. STANFORD CARDINAL - 29
5. CLEMSON TIGERS - 42
4. OKLAHOMA SOONERS -37
3. OHIO STATE BUCKEYES - 39
2. LSU TIGERS - 40

1. ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE - 57

Alabama, who leads this list by a wide margin, is the cream of the crop with six national titles since the start of the 2009 season. The Crimson Tide capped an unbeaten campaign for the second time in Nick Saban’s tenure en-route to winning the national title over Ohio State Alabama's two losses during the 2019 season marked the first time the Crimson Tide suffered more than one blemish during the regular season in 10 years, an admirable accomplishment given the challenges of the SEC.

Here is a video of Adrian Peterson telling Shannon Sharpe that his final decision came down to Oklahoma and USC. There is an alternate timeline where Reggie Bush, Lendale White and Adrian Peterson are all in the same backfield beating Auburn by a million in the 2004 National championship game. He also says that Texas basically put themselves out the picture by not allowing him to compete for the starting job with Cedric Benson coming back. So there is another timeline where Peterson and Vince Young are at Texas together. I love these sort of what if behind the scenes stories.

Bama On Line profiled former Alabama players who transferred (and played) last season:

How Alabama transfers performed last season

Alabama had over a dozen former players competing elsewhere across the college football landscape this past season.

Details of Sark's and the assistants' contracts:

quote:

The board is expected to approve Sarkisian’s salary Thursday. Sarkisian, who was hired Jan. 2, will make $5.2 million in his first year as coach and is guaranteed a $200,000 raise each year. Sarkisian’s compensation also includes two dealership cars, 20 hours of private airplane use per year and a $250,000 relocation and temporary housing allowance. He will additionally receive a one-time payment of $1.2 million if he is still head coach on December 31, 2024.

The board will also approve the guaranteed compensation of coordinators and assistant football coaches, most of which exceed $1 million. Offensive coordinator Kyle Flood’s salary will start at $1.1 million and increase by $75,000 each year during his three-year contract. Special Teams Coordinator Jeff Banks will make $1 million in his first year and an additional $50,000 for the remaining two years of his contract. All assistant coaches except receivers coach Andre Coleman and running backs coach Stan Drayton are also guaranteed one dealership car and a $29,000 relocation and temporary housing allowance.

I wonder from which dealership those cars are coming. I know a guy who can probably get them some good deals on a few Mercedes

The sincerest form of flattery....

Marshall football: Huff says conditioning program will precede start of spring ball

The Fourth Quarter Program is one that Huff brought with him from Alabama, where he worked under head coach Nick Saban.

Saban’s Fourth Quarter Program focused as much on mental aspects as physical. According to Huff, they are a key component to the Crimson Tide’s success over Saban’s tenure.

Looks like the academic issues is what Gilbert is dealing with. Seems like his preference is still Florida but he may end up in Juco regardless unless he can't get into Florida but can get in elsewhere.
