No you’re a bleeding vagina that can’t acknowledge any positives. If you’ve posted one positive comment since the SEC championship game, I’ll be shocked.

I can't stop going over Penn St's schedule for next season....... That is honestly the most pathetic thing I've ever seen from a supposed major program. There are consistently going to be BIG teams that due to the size of the conference avoid the top 4-5 teams in a given season. Couple that with a ridiculous out of conference slate and there you have it.

Fans in the SEC fail to comprehend how catastrophically bad the bottom half of the Big Ten has become. Outside of Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, USC and Iowa that conference has basically stopped trying when it comes to football.

The Big Ten has 33% of their conference in the all-time FBS top 25 by winning percentage.

The SEC has 58% of their conference in the all-time FBS top 25 by winning percentage.

They don't even have to try to protect their top teams, the structure of their conference does it for them.

They recruited Oregon and a bunch of B12 level teams while we were adding Texas, A&M, OU and Missouri.

All four of those teams were in the top 15 this year.

When was Maryland, Rutgers, UCLA or Nebraska last ranked in the top 15?

I’m not calling you names, I’m saying that you’ve been melting since at least the SEC championship game and refuse to acknowledge any positives.

According to ChatGPT:
Nebraska
Yes — finished season AP No.14
1998
UCLA
Yes — finished AP No.8
1998
Maryland
Yes — finished AP No.3
1951
Rutgers
Yes — ranked as high as No.12 (in-season)

1) A bleeding vagina is a name. Its certainly not a positive term of endearment. 2) A difference of opinion is just a varying perspective. 3) Why does my perspective matter to you anyway. I state mine, but I do not attack anyone else for theirs.

This just isn’t a factual statement, at all. You personally may get it, but very few on the board do.

no need to say it in every thread

I’m aware people are tired of hearing it…I’m tired of saying it. That said, it’s relevant to almost any discussion about the potential success of next season, certainly a preseason ranking. Setting reasonable expectations for a player, team, or even coaching staff can help at least limit some of the toxicity when reality hits.

I’ve seen several times when myself or others tried to set reasonable expectations for an upcoming season or game only to have our narratives parroted after the losses by the same posters attacking us prior to the outcome. It’s happened a lot (OU loss due to them having an extra week to prepare and Duke bball game given our small backcourt were 2 of the latest). Just trying to do my part to have the fans pissed at me now, so maybe they are just a little less pissed later when the team does exactly what us reasonable fans expected them to do given our limitations. It’s overly idealistic of me, but I’ve seen it happen on the margin multiple times before.

If the way it “catches on fire” is due to Mack or Keelon winning us a Natty next season after taking home the Heisman, I hope the box gets razed to the ground by an ICBM.

They also reached the top 5 under Bo Pelini. And were in the top 10 under Mike Riley.

In the playoff era preseason ranking is pointless. With the schedule bama has next year lose 2 or less and you are in.

You are no realist. A realist sees things as they are. He understands and is willing to acknowledge the good and the bad. If he is a fan, IMO, he should state things in as positive (not lying or covering up) a light as is reasonable. When addressing the future, there are often multiple legitimate outcomes possible. Most fans are interested in more favorable outcomes while acknowledging the possibility of sadder ones. That is realism. This is what the majority of this board has made clear that it prefers. It is typical of humanity and more healthy.

In the context in which we are speaking, no one here knows anything for certain about the future. This team could legitimately go 12-0/11-1 or collapse and stagger to a 6-6 record.

The narrative is Bama is down.

We got beat by the National Champions. It not like we lost to the lowest ranked team in the playoffs. Yes we have issue but we know what the are and are bringing in some guys to address that. CKD needs to clean house with the coaching staff which doesn’t seem like he is doing so that is worrisome but not the sky is falling like the media is making it out to be. We had a good recruiting class and portal pickups.

You won't convince me that Herbstreit's commentary hasn't had an effect overall. The contrast between that and the treatment Oregon got for getting similarly throttled was stark.

Having said that, we were the ones that shite the bed, and ultimately the preseason rankings don't mean much. We have a relatively manageable early season schedule next year and if we take care of what we should, we probably will be in the top five by the time the calendar turns to October.
