In the latest twist of a season full of disruptions, there are COVID-19 related concerns that threaten to disrupt Monday’s national championship game between Alabama and Ohio State. There are concerns related to Ohio State’s player availability for the game, according to sources, setting up a massive decision less than a week from when the game is scheduled to kick off in Miami. Ohio State has informed key parties involved it could be without a position group due to COVID-19 testing and related protocols. There have been discussions amongst the SEC, Big Ten, the College Football Playoff and the schools related to possibly postponing the Jan. 11 title game, sources said, though a final decision on the situation has yet to be reached. This post will be updated.

crazy when you think about the fact Clemson could have used there OC big-time !..
Also Clemson played ND without Lawrence and some defensive personnel. A game if they win shifts the whole playoff scenario..But we all knew this was possible when fields got his ribs hit.!

This is complete bull, this is so Fields can get healthy because otherwise he wouldn't be playing. How many rules are going to be changed in college football so Ohio State can have their way? They got in with six games and now they're trying to weasel their way out of dealing with injuries like the rest of these teams had to do!

My biggest concern with them moving the date of the game is whether or not Sark can stick around that long. Staying until this coming monday is one thing. But staying another week or two when he's got other things he needs to attend to in Austin is a whole other thing.

After our last few years of numerous injuries to key players IDGAF about what some other team is dealing with. Be on that field Monday, and dont make any excuses.

We have AT LEAST 1 more title if not for horrific injury luck.

In no way shape or form should we agree to postpone the national championship game.

Yeah, then some of our players become covid positive, and the narrative will be we've already delayed once we're not doing it again play ball.

This is crazy.

Unless COVID puts them under 53, I just dont see how they allow them to postpone.

Rumor is just two DL and of course the Fields injury.

OSU Beat writer says reports are basically false

Again, it’s Tuesday, so nothing is guaranteed during a pandemic. But Ohio State has practiced the last two days to be ready to play on Monday, and it simply wouldn’t be bringing players to the facility if the numbers were at an unsafe level.

My reading of the rumors is that in addition to the two starters, it may be a backup or two on the DL, which puts that position group at risk.

He's not saying the rumors are basically false. All that says is that the issues aren't widespread. They could still be affecting a particular position group.

I mean they've been having issues all season. At some point this becomes about them getting their shite in order.

Right? What happens if they push the game and then have positives next week? How far are you going to continue to push this game?

Plus isnt the BIG10 rule 17 days.. We would have to push past the 18th for them to play anyways.

If I remember correctly since this isn't a B1G game the 17 day rule doesn't apply.
