Nick tends to hire coaches that have worked for him or at least crossed paths with him. Not giving the job to Tosh might mean some school looking for a DC and has a million to spend might take him. Not sure Pruitt would. Silly season is in full swing in the coaches market plus all teams get to add one additional coach in Jan.

Last I checked the waiting list is 10 years long, so someone will gladly step up and take your place.

Coaches aren't coaching for fun or fandom. It is their career and the future of their families. When they get a chance to make what they think is a career improvement, they have every single right in the world to take it. We have no right to judge what is best for them.

I didn't hear one word of there being issues when Kirby stayed around after taking the Georgia job. Clearly, there were issues with Kiffin after he got the FAU job, but that's nothing more than an indictment of Kiffin's character and professionalism (or lack thereof) - something that shouldn't really have come as a shock to anyone.

If Pruitt is truly the Alabama guy many posters paint him to be, I've got no doubt that if he stays for the playoffs he'll bust his arse just like his next paycheck depended on it.

Why the frick to so many people want Steele back? Auburn is the ONLY place he's ever had a defense worth a frick.

Do y'all really want to take a chance on him returning to his norm?

Hell no. I'm not sure the people who are saying they want him, remember who he is.

Mel Tucker-Why would he come back to Alabama?
Kevin Steele-Why would he come back to Alabama?

Both are lateral move, and doesn't make sense.

From what I understand, Steele is an excellent "evaluator" of talent. If he were to come back I want him in an office doing just that. After he left in 2007, Kirby took over and things got better, IMO.

Let us not forget, Steele left to go to Clemson when Dabo was named HC. The next year (2008) Dabo relieved Steele of his duties after the Orange Bowl after West Virginia hung 70 on them. Not NO but HELL TO THE NAW

We don't want Steele. The reason they would both come back is because Alabama will pay them more AND if you haven't noticed lately...the best path to becoming a HC is being an assistant at Alabama. Everyone wants a piece of our success, and so our assistants all end up as HC's. Kirby, Pruitt, Kiffin, McElwain, etc. Come to Bama, be OC or DC for 2-3 years and get a sweet HC gig. It's pretty amazing, and no other program can offer that.

Saban doesn't give a shite about this. Best man for the job, no matter how long their stay will be. There are always solid candidates out there and a stay with Saban is almost a guarantee of a HC position.

I thought I read somewhere that Kirby later said something to effect of the first play-off game wasn't so bad shuffling duties as you had a month before the that game...think he said it was a bit tougher when prepping for the championship game as it was a quicker turnaround...

I say let Tosh Lupoi be promoted to DC and beat UF to hiring Patrick Surtain to be a DB coach. Let Ansley move to LB as Kirby and Jeremy did.

Surtain coaches his son along with Tyson Campbell. All 4 DB's are prospects. Saban works with the DB's to smooth the transition.

Plus south Florida recruiting connections.
